I decided to record a known piece using Casio PX-S3000 and NI's Noire piano library. Honestly the keybed on this keyboard is not really made for playing advanced classical repertoire such as hardcore Chopin or Lizst pieces. I mean you can but if this is the only keyboard that you own, you'll have a hard time with heavier action keyboards. I have a strong preference for heavier action keys so I had to change my playing style to make this work. I would definitely recommend it as a 'general purpose' keyboard to play pop, light Jazz/classical, hymns and even as a midi controller. It's 100 times better than M-Audio Keystation for sure!

is not made for playing advanced classical repertoire because is light action keyboard. right?

@@mete7857 By that I mean real hardcore piece3s...otherwise this video of Brahms Rhapsody is actually an advanced piece. I generally use it only to play Piano and some Elec pianos. I haven't really used the rest of the sounds so can't comment on them. It is a very playable and slick keyboard.

it will be my first piano. Yes the size is a little tight, in his review of "the Forever Piano" channel, he says it is difficult to play some chords. I love the piano but I don't know. Would you recommend it to beginners? tones variety important to me (700 pcs wow) Are the tones really poor quality? Thank you.
@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've seen that video. His views are extreme. In general, I don't like those types of opinions because they don't apply to all situations. I use this keyboard almost every week and It's just fine for casual views. Would I recommend it for a beginner? Absolutely! It has good pianos and for the price everything else sounds just fine as well. All around, at the price point is a good choice.

@@InTheMixReviews I'm grateful for your answer. What do you think about tones ? its bad ? Maybe I can't even get the quality
@amusic9825 Жыл бұрын
Regarding on your question about the 700 tones, yes it's crap. Just go buy a DGX670. It has better styles, other sounds and samples from the CFX grand which is better than Casio, just like the sample library he used in this video.

Congrats man! Really good performance! Noire sounds amazing on my headphones, but when I try an external speaker, I hear too much bass for the lower key notes and the sound gets very messy. Did you change any settings in Noire or used a mixer software?
@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. I may have played around with Noire‘s settings a bit but no external effects. It sounds just right on my monitors and other playback devices here.

your playing is fantastic. The knowledge hidden in these Brahm pieces are addictive. Are there any repeated modulations or patterns that stand out with Brahms compositions ?
@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. I'm not quiet sure if I understand the question clearly. Maybe if you could clarify a bit more?
@remon5634 жыл бұрын
@@InTheMixReviews ohh as a composer I have the tendency to analyze the music rather than copy/remember it so I can learn from it. Actually my memory is pretty bad but my improvisation skill is pretty good because of this focus on the structure behind the pieces. Modulations are specific keychanges around the tonic (or any other note). Each time period have their own set of chord progressions but also common "modulations". Despite holding him in extreme high regard I did not study Brahms yet so I was wondering if there were certain chords, keys, patterns or modulations that stood out.
@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@remon563 That's great that you analyze the pieces. That's the best way to learn. With Brahms it really depends. For example in this particular piece, the chord progression pretty much stays the same in the new key and eventually it develops into the last section. He has other pieces where the modulated section has a different harmony.

Which would you say is a better sounding piano VST, The Grandeur or Noire? Loved your playing btw
@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
They're both good and have their own character. Though, Noire has the particle engine and you could use it to produce a whole range of different sounds if that's the thing you're interested in. The Grandeur is more like a traditional Piano library. I find both very useful.

Nice video and great performance! I find NOIRE possibly one of the most playable piano sample library these days (For people who read this in the future, I'm writing this comment in 2022/November). What is your opinion about NOIRE's playability? Have you find any other piano sample libraries thats playability is so good like NOIRE's playability? The only thing that comes to my mind is Pianoteq thats playability is the best (so it's way better then NOIRE's), but Pianoteq is physically modelled (meaning it is technically a synth that aims to sound like a real piano), but I haven't found a sample library (not synth, but sample library with tons of recorded audio files) thats better than NOIRE's. Do you know any piano sample library that has similar great playability like NOIRE? Thank you very much! Have a great day!

@@InTheMixReviews Do you have VI Labs Modern U upright piano sample library? I'm planning to purchase it this November(?), I saw that last year they made a 35% OFF sale started at November 25, and another sale of 40% OFF around December or January (I forgot), but I don't mind the last extra 5% OFF, so probably I will buy in in November. If Modern U playability will be close or the same or even better than NOIRE probably I will completely switch from NOIRE to Modern U for a general purpose piano, although I love NOIRE for darker sounds, wether if it's normal (Pure) or Felt piano sound, so I definitelly keep it installed for the darker solo piano stuff :)

@@amusicians2cents No, I don’t think I’ve ever played that one.
@amusicians2cents2 жыл бұрын
@@InTheMixReviews I just bought it a few hours ago, it's on sale now (also sale for Ravencroft, but if I remember well then I think you already have it), I think the Modern U (that I just bought), playability-wise is solid. It is about the same good playable like Noire, maybe even a little bit better too. Certainly the most playable upright that I found so far, so I'm happy so far, but I still have to figure out some settings for different kind of sounds that I like, because it just loads 1 microphone with the default setting and that one microphone doesn't sound enough so to say, so I guess I just have to tinker around until I find some settings that start to sound like an actual record of an upright piano, I know it can't be 100% percent like that, but I believe it can fool most people, including many musicians, and some pianists too if find the right settings.
@amusicians2cents2 жыл бұрын
One thing that I will try to do with this is to use it for piano music that needs brighter piano sound (although it can be darker too, especially with the sordino pedal samples with I find pretty nice). The brighter sound of this Modern U will complement the darker sound of Noire when needed an opposing mood piece or something.
