Wonderful to hear this. Etlinger is a great clarinetist, and I love Pnina Salzman's playing!

Brahms' two clarinet (or viola) sonatas Op. 120 are truly sublime. Their autumnal beauty is striking. So is the playing here -- exquisite.

Yona Ettlinger is the clarinetist . Pnina Salzman is the pianist. Yona was one of the greatest clarinetists of his time . I am very grateful to have studied with Yona for 3 years in the mid 1970's . He was a great artist and teacher. He was a student of Louis Cahuzac .He was for many years Principal Clarinetist of the Israel Philharmonic.

Mr. Krehm, Teach us to play like that: So pure, expressive and romantic. To bad the piano has dissonant sounding major chords (probable bad tuning). It is less noticeable if the volume is down.

i think this piece might have the greatest piano accompaniment ever written for a solo sonata.
@jcbdwsn7 жыл бұрын
I always think of it as a sonata for clarinet AND piano rather than a clarinet sonata because the piano has such a big role.
@janicezany6 жыл бұрын
Sonatas written for a 'solo' instrument and piano have equal parts in ALL respects. So you're not to think of the piano as an "accompaniment' ( except to provide the rich HARMONIC background throughout).

Thanks Yaira for this excellente version! There's only a doubt about which the interpreters are, as it is mentioned as: "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E-Flat, Op. 120, No. 2: Allegro appassionato" de Richard Stoltzman & Richard Goode (iTunes)"... Best wishes!
@yairayasmin7 жыл бұрын
Yes so what is yout question again?
@juliodubini48677 жыл бұрын
Well, as the info is contradictory the question is which are the interpreters indeed? Richard Stolzman & R. Goodie or Yona Ettlinger & Pnina Salzman? Cheers.
@whoitisnot7 жыл бұрын
This is Ettlinger and Saltzman. Both Ettlinger and Stoltzman are very distinctive in their approach to the clarinet and sound nothing like each other.
