I saw Vengerov play his new Brahms cadenza live in Oxford on September 2022. I feel very lucky to have witnessed it live, best concert of my life! Vengerov also played the Bach Double Violin Concerto (slow movement) with the wonderful leader of the orchestra Carmine Lauri as a tribute to the late Queen who had just died a few weeks earlier. Vengerov is such a beautiful human being and still so humble, despite his towering achievements. In the second half he came back into the town hall and was noticed to more applause. He smiled graciously acknowledging the crowd and sat down to watch his friends in the orchestra play the Tchaikovsky symphony. I am so happy that his new interpretation of the Brahms Violin Concerto matches his legendary status he has maintained throughout his career.
