Newer player here, 1 month. I don't feel the combat is too fast. There is a learning curve to it. I like it as it is honestly! But I've been thinking, if they aren't nerfing enemy DMG, won't they just be making the game harder..?

It looks like ZOS thinks ESO is gold because it has the name "Elder Scrolls" in it, but what's the point of playing if you can't make whatever character you want.

Yea, I’m new, and it really seems like I have to stick to a specific mid-evil fantasy archetype to be useful in anyway in the game.

I feel some skills were fine with getting a buff in duration, by that i mean mostly buffs that you use in a fight for non reactive reasons, like how sorcs use surge to increase their dps or maybe some defensive buffs, those imo could have benefited from a longer duration without hurting the speed of combat and would have been a good quality of life change, but them increasing the duration of everything and making them also activate half as slow makes the game feel clunky as hell.

Thoughts on increasing the damage of all abilities, lowering light and heavy attacks, and increasing the costs. This would reduce Actions Per Minute but would make new players feel powerful, and this would solve ZOS's issue.

they dont want to balance pvp and pve separatly because it "confuses" new players...but overhauling everything every 3 months apparently is not confusing for the same players

the dps nerf is a slap in the face to mid level players who are working hard to reach dps requirements for vet content.

To be honest, i like it. I want the old combat back. Hard hitting mobs, lower player dmg. Got enough of Usain Bolt type of playrs in every dungeon i join. Like the heck,not just lower the dmg, even remove damn movement speed from champ tree. TF we have now ? Trials reqcruiters, want you to do 100k MINIMUM dps. Man i can easily do 50k /live/ but i wont become spam bot to achieve 100k, and no i dont care vTrials. End game players will be fine, even if overal dmg is nerfed 50%. Like how long it takes to compleate a trial/raid ? Now compare it to other MMOS. ZoS tried to please new players and make game more casual than it need to be. Day or 2 ago, watched a video of destro staff DK, hitting for like 50k dmg on heavy attack /players and mobs. So yea, changes are needed. Sadly ZoS dont just nerf dots and weapon attack, but single target direct skills like molten wip. Buts yea, they have no clue how to balance/

I'm a new player of 1 week and I feel the combat is not interesting at all while leveling. I can just spam 1 skill and win every time. The only time I ran from a fight was against an elite mob on the outdoors map. Meanwhile, I have skill point to put into so many skills that I feel I just don't need at all when 1 damage skill is more than enough.

zos also says no new class or skills because "consoles" cant handle the memory needed - the same consoles play ff and black desert with many more classes and skills and animations that are much better just fine for some reason

And why should we care about console players? The whole thing is separated. Just give the PC players what they want, and whoever want they get a f**** PC and play on PC, not on PS. Simple as that.

I got an idea tho, at the beginning screen you have an option to go on a North American server so on and so forth…well what about an elitist server. That way when you log in you know your about to get a run for your money. Anyone could join but if your not good it wouldn’t be suggested. Idk it seems like the only 2 options people will go for is separate or nerf the entire game…I vote separate

Maybe have the server for only maxed out cp characters. So when your character hits max cp you would unlock that server. So everyone playing on that server has a good understanding of the game by that point and it’s with the BIG DOGS! I feel that’s more of an excitement than a nerf…jmo

It doesn't matter. Zos will never, ever, take feedback from the community and players sincerely. They already proved this with AWA during the update 33 PTS.

Problem with that model is once potential players hear that you change things completely constantly and they don't care about long term players people will never START playing to begin with. If my homies were like should I play eso I'd be like no, definitely not at this point. You don't get into an MMO to play for a week. That's not how it works. They are getting a LOT of bad press right now. Tbh: I'm literally only using oakensoul because they announced the nerf. Got the leads randomly and it sat in my bank for 2 weeks. When they announced the nerf I was like fek it. Gettin some lols out of this thing.

I dont know how long you have been playing this game but this is what they do they put out a dlc with over powered gear then they nerf it just in time for a new dlc with the new meta gear. People have been complaining about animation canceling since day 1 tho maybe it is time to get rid of it

I'm disappointed that my sorc build is getting nerfed so hard because of what players did with the sets that ZOS PUT IN THE GAME! I don't even use those sets but those are the reasons that Sorcs were problematic. Instead of just adjusting those sets, they nuked the entire class.

the year has been a catastrophie - nothing in the chapters players wanted like new pvp, new class, new skills and combat team completely jumped the shark - worst case scenario this will be the year where eso's fate will be sealed

The solution is to not mess with skill-based things. Never ever talk and try to lower the skill ceiling in the game. If the new players want to do the end game stuffs, they need to understand, learn, and improve as every other player. This is not a Quake game, that is 100% mechanical, all you need to do is to understand how x and y things work and just practice a bit to get better at it. This is not some hard math for god sake. Leave player-skill in the game or they are going to lose most of their stable playerbase and the game will be empty shell in a no time !!!

i would argue that quake has a lot of skills involved in it. moving around, weapon tricks, map knowledge, map tactics - it all applies there as well

It has everything to do with newer players buying dlc to get the better gear, than it is to put them on a level playing feild with people that play the game more. They are trying to make it more pay to win

There are a lot of people in this game that just cannot do the entire DOT thing. Either they have physical limitations, issues with lag or just plain are not good enough. Those people with this patch, because of the combat changes and Oakensoul nerf might as well just leave now. So many were just getting by when it came to damage already and Oakensoul was so nice as it made them feel they could actually play with others. Well those days are OVER. This nerf of the combat system, and it is a straight up nerf do not allow Zos to lie about that, will make it so those people will struggle with even overland crap. Sorry but this update is the end of ESO. They are now trying to force their idea of how to play on everyone. You like a one button style? Say bye bye to that now. Hell you like a 2 or 3 button style? Adios mother fuckers. They quite obviously do not think you deserve to be able to do any more advanced content. This will not help ANYONE!. PERIOD!!!

Stop trying to explain someone being a s**** with having physical limitations, cause it's easier. This is not some hard math. If you can't hit 1 button per second, then you should not f***** play MMORPG game, simple as that. Go try with Tetris maybe. Tired of dog***** players that try to destroy every single game and cry about physical limitation and b.c. Games are just like sports, if you are not good enough, you won't play in the pro leagues. Stay with the amateur. There is plenty to do in the game. You should not be given anything on silver tray for god sake. As far as lag goes, fix your **** connections. People that doesn't have lag, paid for that. If you want to experience the same thing do that. If not, have lag, simple as that. First this is just today’s mentality anymore. Everyone watches all you guys on KZbin and just cry and moan that they aren’t that good and it’s not fair. Instead of taking the time to practice. Or just accepting that they will never be in the top tier. People now days focuses on everyone else instead of taking a look in the mirror and asking what can “I” do to get better. I mean who cares if there’s a gap. I can’t just pick up a basketball and 1v1 Michael Jordan. But what is working in today’s society is the lord all mighty is gonna nerf MJ so I can be an ELITE like the elitists…well has anyone thought!!!!!!! The elites are gonna pack there bags because there’s nothing to prove anymore and the guys coming up that start just really getting into the mechanics won’t have anything more to work for…so the game will be trash all because of crybaby’s….my suggestion STOP TRYING TO BE ALCAST… and just play the damn game

I'll say it again Adam. Whats the difference between hitting 1,2,3,4,5 weapon swap,1,2,3,4,5. Over and over compared to 1,2,3,4,5, weapon swap, 1,2,3,4,5,5,5,5,5,5,5. I tried it out on the PTS and having the ability actually do my spammable more then once or twice is a god send. It feelsmorw natural and easier. I mean why even have a spammable in the current system. Having to constantly reapply dots, which having every class having to use dots takes away the uniqueness of dots in the first case. And buff abilities being on a 10 sec cooldown is asinine gameplay. I think ZOS didn't go far enough!!! IMHO. Abilities that buff should be on a 1 min timer and dots are fine in a 20 but some should be in a 10, a 20 or even a 30 sec timer. Weaving in itself should be nuked. It needs to go. Nerf the content if it needs to but after testing, the combat feels much better for me.

Longer durations is fine, and simplistic rotation is whatever. PvP will still be fast-paced and difficult PvE content will still require skill. But they didn't need to make all the nerfs to most of the class skills (besides Nightblade which was buffed lol).

@@IntelligentFlame Nerf Dot's, buff spammables is what should happen. No one should lose damage IMO but that isn't what Adam is consistently harping about and the only other players I see who are complaining about the changes to rotations are sweaty parsers like Nefas and Skinny. Almost all universal outrage is on the loss of damage. Again making the game simpler through rotations is a blessing for most.
