I am currently making this but with a more chunky weight yarn. I've genuinely frogged it 4 times now bc my edges on the end without the 4 slip stitches arent straight. I'm counting each row and making sure tension stays the same but every single time, it starts to slant as if I'm adding stitches to each row on one end?!
@crochetdreamz4 жыл бұрын
It does slant a little due to the nature of slip stitch. You can see my finished piece on my blog: crochetdreamz.com/crochet-ribbed-beanie/ It won't be a perfect trapezoind but slightly slanting.

Why does my one side keep angling inwards. The side with the single crochet slip stitch is fine but it’s the other end that keeps angling inwards. I’ve taken my work apart and restart from the first row, plus I do have the right number of stitches. I can’t seem to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Please help.

It is the nature of the stitch. Whenever you have slip stitch some slant is natural but if it is slanting too much you can always gently block it before assembling it.

Having a hard time with measurements. Can you please clarify. I can’t imagine how a width of 91/2 will fit around my 4 year old grandson head. He is 4 and the circumference is 22”. So I’m confused. Thank you.
@crochetdreamz4 жыл бұрын
The width is half of the total circumference of the hat. If your grandson has a big 22" head, you should crochet the number of rows for a woman's size.
@gobabe23964 жыл бұрын
@@crochetdreamz Thank you for responding and clarifying my question. My grandson allowed me to measure is “Big Head” again and I was in error. His head is 19” at 4.5 y/o. It helps to know that measurement was for only half the total size. The child pattern should be okay I think. As far as the hat, I made it to row 7 and had to rip it apart ... sigh 😔. Having stitch count trouble. I’m Left handed. I find stitch placement a little tricky as either I skip a stitch Altogether or repeat in the same stitch. The chain row I started with somehow is different 3-4 rows later. I have lost 2-3 or gained 2-3. It makes a big difference. I crochet very fast and need to slow down for accuracy! Also I used lion brand Hometown (bulky Cat 6 with your needle size). Not good. I’m Going to try with a clover 10mm. I have been making many mistakes. But I find I am learning g a lot because of them. Keep practicing with a loose gauge. Pull the hook up each time you yarn over to make it bigger. You will get used to it and get faster.

if you use the knife grip when you crochet, i have a *tip* that might help! when you have all 3 loops on the hook and your ready to do the slip stitch part, INSTEAD of turning your wrist/hook toward yourself or down. go the opposite direction with your wrist/hook (away from yourself) it slips right through. and then straighten your wrist back toward yourself as normal. its so much easier and doesnt twist the yarn or anything. hope this helps!!
