Thanks to your video, I finished my "first" ribbed beanie today. I was pleased with it for being the 1st, but I can tell where my flaws are, and this hat will be my teaching tool. It's not as stretchable as I expected so I'll have to loosen up on my stitches. I had to replay the area where you do the slip stitch to connect the sides, and while my ends didn't match exactly, I was able to use the end that wasn't perfect to make the crown of the beanie. My husband was so proud for me when I showed him my finished product, but it will only be a model for future beanies. So for 2 days, I have been glued to different areas of your video, jumping back over and over again. While I've found some interesting patterns online, multi-colored and such, I'm going to stick to single colors for now. Thank you again for helping me learn more and more about crocheting that I never imagined when I was a little girl. Kathy

I have been searching for 2 days for a video that shows how to stitch the "rectangle" together before sewing the top together. I didn't need anything up until the 6 minute mark, but what you taught me from that point forward was PERFECT. I first saw my mom crochet when I was about 8. I asked her to show me how, so she had a 2nd crochet hook and a scrap of yarn for me to use and I spent an hour making chains and sc's. I got bored by then and went outside to play. When I was 25, I was expecting my first child. A coworker was also expecting, and she was making the most beautiful baby blanket I had ever seen. So I found out what I needed, stopped at K-mart on my way home from work, got my pattern, yarn, and crochet hook. I was so excited to get home and get supper and other things out of the way so I could sit down and start. I opened up the pattern and just looked at it. I had no idea what I was expecting but I was in way over my head. With the help of coworkers and family who knew how to crochet, I somehow made it through the pattern but altered it when I got to an area that sounded much too difficult to do, and I was the only one who knew it wasn't exact. I had it done and ready to go when he was born and came home from the hospital in Dec. of 1988. I was so proud that I had finished the blanket, and for the first 4 years of his life it went everywhere with him. If we were leaving home and forgot it, as long as we weren't too far away, we went back for it. Twenty six years later, my son and daughter-in-law told us they were expecting their first child. It took a couple of months for me to think about that blanket which I still had. It was so faded from so many times through the washing machine and had a big hole in the center where he had gradually pulled out yarn, and by that time he would wear it as a poncho. So I had to go to the internet to locate that same pattern, the yarn, and a few different crochet hooks and while it took me awhile to remember the stitches, a LONG WHILE, I still needed some help but I had it finished in time to meet our first granddaughter. She is 9 now, and she loves her blanket and the story behind it. Since then we've gotten another granddaughter, a grandson, and another on the way in Sept. or October and I haven't started yet. Each one has been used with different color combinations for them to know which one belongs to who. So before and during the pandemic, I had an idea to crochet little beanies for infants in the children's hospital. By the time I could donate them, I had over 200 finished, a bunch of "chemo caps" for people needing warmth on their heads. I began to struggle with the magic circle, and I found a video on here that made it so easy, and I keep it for future reference because I have early Alzheimer's and some things that used to be easy, aren't so easy now but I kept making them. I am in the process of making my first ribbed beanie, and while I haven't finished it yet, the body is done, and I need to understand how to stitch it into the tube before closing up the top. Like my other helpful video, I will be keeping this where I can refer to it as I need it. I'm battling back from carpal tunnel surgery in one hand as if I need any other issues, I guess I'll get this first hat finished and then see if I can't make another blanket. Apologies for the book, my main reason for writing was because your video helped me so much, and hopefully I will get back to more beanies for the children's hospital. I have plenty of yarn, that's for sure. Thank you!

I'm working on this now and I just want to tell you what a fantastic texture this creates - squishy and stretchy - perfect for a cozy winter hat! Thank you for a great tutorial. I had to start over after six rows or so because I kept missing the first stitch (thinking it was the turning chain from the previous row) and my edges were slanting. Oops. Now that I am marking the first and last stitches I have nice even edges. Thank you again!
