Tip for anyone with an slx dc just take the spool out through the dc conrol plate to tie the arbor knot. Go through the pawl then the sideplate hole so when you put spool in after knot its easy, or use a small piece of electrical tape to get the line around the spool. Some spools have holes to help you get it around as well

Hi Capt, a much easier way to get that line onto the spool is to do it with the spool out ;)

I don't like electrical tape. The adhesive turns into a gummy mess. I use a teeny tiny dab of E6000 over the knot, a spool on about three turns, and wait 15 minutes to cure. Then continue loading line as normal. Never gets gummy, and will cleanly pry off the spool, when it comes time to replace line.

That works too! Never had the "gummy" issue but things happen! Thanks

Absolutely! You know as well as anyone there’s ALOT of money spent on good equipment. I’ve just gotten into the saltwater world this past year so I’m still learning. Thanks a million!

Ive noticed some of your setups are all mono or all braid. Is there a preference if going after reds or trout?? Also, what knot do you prefer to tie to the verse max cork? Thanks -
@CaptCharlieThomason2 жыл бұрын
All of my line setups are braid with mono or floro leader. I have switched right now, just to try it out, the FINS 40G braid, 6 pound dia with 40 pound test and seems to be working really good. You must tie a Palomar Knot if you are using the Knocker Versamaxx and have braid to the reel, if you are using the Hybrid then you need to tie a uni to uni knot to connect the braid to the mono so you can lock in the cork as you adjust. Yes there are other braid to mono knots to use but this is the one that I prefer.

So is electrical tape like the replacement for using a mono as a backing?

What about that rod? Very pretty, what is it?

i thought you get line twist if you pull it off the spool like you are doing.
@CaptCharlieThomason2 жыл бұрын
With Monofilament you will, but with braid you will not. Braid has no memory so it will go on perfect just like that!!

@@CaptCharlieThomason cool nice to know that. keep up the good videos.

Why the yellow , instead of green ?
@CaptCharlieThomason3 жыл бұрын
There are many colors of lines out there, I prefer to use the yellow due to its high visibility when at the waterline, I can see everything from a strike, speed of my retrieve or just where the fish is running when I’m fighting it. Color is more a preference, and it looks cool!! @finswindtammer
