Braided Rings Quick Tutorial in Rhino

This is a speed model / quick, silent tutorial of me making two braided rings in Rhino3D. One the braid pattern goes all the way around. The other one has a smooth sizing area at the bottom.

@@user-jh7sm6qz9v Hi. Yes, I think I understand now. I did that on purpose. I selected only the lines because I wanted the pipes (objects) to stay the same thickness. I chose a thickness for the pipes that I wanted (1.5mm), then I scaled the lines down until the pipes touched each other and overlapped each other a little bit. If you follow my tutorial here, as you scale the lines, the thickness of the pipes should stay the same but the pipes should adjust to the new size of the lines due to Rhino's history function. To scale the pipes, you have to select the pipes. But, if you scale the pipes, you will break history on them and they will no longer update as we adjust the lines. There is a point in the video (2:28) where I scale the pipes themselves (only a little) because I want the pipes more narrow vertically. At that point I break history, but it's OK because I no longer need the history function at that point. If you want to follow this tutorial but you want the braids to have a different thickness, I would delete the pipes and make new pipes with the desired thickness. Then select the lines and scale only the lines until you like how the braid looks. I hope I understood, and I hope this helps.
