This song is so beautiful. Braids have become one of my favorite bands of all time. So proud they're Canadian.

It's not like I'm feeling much different Than a woman my age years ago Liberated is what you wanna call it How about unfairly choked? Cause I know some just see my body And every girl I know at some point stopped eating I'm not a man hater I enjoy them like cake But in my position I'm the slut I'm the bitch I'm the whore The one you hate And there’s a name for this kind of man A soft one at that Womanizer Casanova Lothario For us it’s just a stamp to the head For them another notch in the bed It’s like I’m wearing red, and if I am You feel you’ve the right to touch me Cause I asked for it In my little mini skirt Think you can have it My little mini skirt It’s mine all mine I know what it’s like To have everything Taken away from me and my family For there was once a man Proposing to love all of us Instead he is full of hate Towards himself, towards his bait And everything he touches is for him My mother’s soul he devours with a grin And when she finds out The child he has taken Confronts him Stakes him Breaks him All our boxes on the lawn Woman shelter for 9 months Cross the street to the church Pray confusedly about what hurts Enough to start A new beginning for us both I thank you Canada Thank you Canada We are all going, going Never knowing What we had Until it’s gone It’s my little mini skirt Think you can have it My little mini skirt It’s mine all mine

Absolutely incredible vocal performance, just damn. Her flailing hands are a little distracting but still amazing stuff.

she has a beautiful voice but the message would have more impact if she was actually wearing a mini skirt.

+Gracie Ackerman she actually made a tweet about this: twitter.com/braidsmusic/status/635261168043589632

I didn't say she didn't have a beautiful voice,,she does have a beautiful voice..and why did she make you tweet about it? Doesn't she have her own voice to speak with? Gawd it was just an opinion ..and my opinion is that it would make the message of the song more powerful if she wore a mini while singing it.. jeez and I thought I was overly sensitive..but being a young girl I suppose she would be more sensitive. I didn't mean to upset her just give my opinion. Sometimes text comes off the wrong way. Wish I had people take a stand for me.. you should read the front page of my blog and website www.sexassacred.com I get real hate..my comment to her wasn't meant as hate .. just creative thought

I still stand by my comment.. you don't like it ok.. but if your going to sing about it be about it. Like I said the song would have more impact if she sang it in a mini skirt..because it shows she isn't ashamed or afraid to wear said mini skirt. It's a rationalization not bullying my part..

now your just splitting hairs.. the little red corvette is a metaphor for a woman's vagina or sex drive.. get it..sex drive? And many artist make multiple costume changes in a show..it's artistry in action.. and she sand one song here..she wasn't in concert.. you are just being intentionally difficult..it's like talking to my teen daughter when she is just in the mood to disagree simple because I am her mother and she is rebelling

The unusual lack of subtlety in this songs lyrics, compared to Braids older work especially, hits me as cringey and hollow. Like making a song about how murdering children is actually bad, so don’t do it. As a human who already knows sexually assaulting other humans is immoral, a singer passionately yelling these words like they arent well known, as if telling those hard truths no one wants to own, makes me cringe. Physically cringe. I love braids, their kinds math rock and shoe gaze elements really tickle my wang, but this is solidly the single worst song I’ve heard from them. Hands down.
