You don't look up to people just because of their sexuality. Those artists that you mentioned are a lot older than them, are in a different genre of music and had walked a very different path than T&S had.

The context of their statement was about queer artists as themselves. About being open and authentic. More over, I would argue that they have a "folk pop" style that is reminiscent of Indigo Girls. You're welcome to disagree but I stand by my statement.

majeric KD Lang? Melissa Etheridge? Ewww....i am about the same age (a few years younger) as tegan and sara and i never felt like those 2 u mentioned represented me or anything at all. I never felt connected to them at all. And I never heard of indigo girls. So i think it's not too far fetch for tegan and sara to say they had no one to look up to.

up until now i thought this song was written by a girl about a guy she cares about; ive never heard a song by a woman in which a woman really passionately sings that she cares about a man strongly and sings that she wont treat him ``typical.`its all about woman`s egos these days..
