As a skimboarder we wear hats and jackets skimboarding. Usually because we do it in anyweather so it protects us from coldness. But i do flat land skimboarding which is like skateboarding we do tricks like shuv its big spins ramps and rail. We do this on shallow water no waves.

One thing I've learned at the beach is that it's not always the best idea to run away from a wave that could slam you. Best way to dodge a wave is to dive under it. Also, stay strapped to your board!

Should do it again on a real skimboard, these are the walmart of skimboards and can only hold like a 60lbs weight limit, buy a zap pro deck or slotstik with a 180lbs plus limit and they’ll really be riding the waves

You guys did great on the skimboard !! Maybe a bigger board next time? Get one from exile or zap . The board should be thicker with more buoyancy to help you keep your speed and stay on top of the water longer! Then the next step is turning on the wave and getting use to that. It normally feels like a basic kick turn on a quarter pipe except there’s no restriction to how much force you can put on the back foot when turning .

You guys should check out corona del mar beach and little corona del mar beach.Its definitely a must see beach to go to.They even have a sick cave and rocky beach to the south end of the beach where all the wildlife hang out at and even massive boulders you can climb up.It's definitely worth checking out🏄🌊

The worst thing I suffered whilst skimboarding was when I sprinted towards water and as I threw board down the nose speared into sand and stopped board instantly and stuck up on almost 45 degree angle, I was already in air about to land and tail of board hit my front shin sending me face first into hard wet sand then smashed by 5 foot wave exploding in front of me. Massive bruising and few stitches in shin. Still you never now unless you have a go.
