+True doter I agree with all that except for new shoes every month. That's crazy talk. You would have to be Donald trump rich to afford that. To keep it simple, skate your shoes until their fully skated. Also, get this stuff called "shoe goo." It will help your shoes last so much longer.
@X41N38 жыл бұрын
Depending on how much you skate, and how you're doing it, and of course what kind of shoes you're using you can actually use good quality skate shoes for an average of 2 months. I remember shoes that lasted for 3 months or longer. So if you're hardcore, and skate multiple hours a day..yes you may need new shoes every 3 weeks. You can also use glue to fix or strengthen parts of the shoe to make them last longer. (coming from an ex-skater)

I love to skate but it still seems weird to me that people are able to ollie higher than they can actually jump lol
@Trip.to_Hel8 жыл бұрын
Ummm i don't know where you got that from, but it's not like that... Actually a lot of skaters say that you can ollie as high as you jump if you do the correct movements, but i don't know anyone who can ollie higher than when he jumps without skateboard, it doesn't even make sense...
@saucymace258 жыл бұрын
+Patrick Lunardi it's possible because an Ollie is not the same motion as jumping.
@Trip.to_Hel8 жыл бұрын
It isn't possible, it doesn't even make sense... I'm talking about ollies on flat, how can you jump higher with an object attached to your feet that weights you down a little? Try it yourself, a jump made without a skateboard attached to your feet is going to always be higher, you can probably jump on the dinner table of your house easily without a skateboard, now try to ollie on it... not so easy, right? I'm talking only ollies on flat btw, ollies done with ramps are totally a different thing, because you are coming really fast towards it and the ramp points towards the sky, so you are obviously going up. And i'm not saying this randomly, i've been skating for almost 10 years, a jump without a skateboard will always be higher on flat...
@saucymace258 жыл бұрын

The second ollie at the very end to the video was done off a ramp. Play it repeatedly and check out the wheels. Also if you pause it at 6:24 you can tell the ramp was edited out because they got part of the wheels with the editing. Either way, this video helped out a lot.

Nice channel! Looking around for a tutorial on how to Ollie to link from my windsurfing channel (frenchsalsa), I noticed that in the comments below people had questions about the pop and jump height. The pop and board flex is what is sending both the rider and the board up. This is how some people can Ollie higher than they can jump. Similar to using a diving board at the pool. The board is flexed over its rear axle by the rider's weight, bends and then springs back up. The more spring the board has, the higher the jump. Weight has to be balanced over the rear axle and the front foot pressure is released a tiny instant before the back foot. This is what makes the board tilt upward at the pop. Then the foot flick levels the board once in the air. The timing of the front foot vs rear foot release of the pop is the secret of the move! To Ollie higher, the rider needs to push as hard as possible over that rear axle to get the board to flex the most and get max spring effect.

Thanks Aaron. Your videos are great. There is one thing that should be emphasized a bit more and that is the jump before the pop. In the slo motion video you can see how your body is almost off the board before you pop the board down. That jump before the pop is so key to Ollieing as it takes your weight off the board and allows the board to spring in the air without your weight.
