I am loving your videos. I'm so appreciative for what your doing. I work with stroke survivors and there really are not enough support/rehab sources available. It feels to like a person suffers a stroke and then that's it. Unless they know how to seek out resources. I have one client now who is a perfect example. She had a stroke, was discharged, and aside from visiting nurse/PT/OT- nothing. Now, I love the visitng nurse and rehab specialists but they only visit twice per week for about 1 hour!? In the grand scheme that will never give a person the optimal opportunities to recover to their full potential. I apprecaite your goals with these videos and share them with my clients 💖🙏

Just this past few days started viewing your talks and understanding my brain . I had a basal ganglia stroke which impaired my left eye and occipital lobe damage. It ALSO has impaired and caused sererity of emotions and changes in mood and agitation in reaction to loved ones around me. I was never like that before the event. I desperately want myself returning to a better stable emotional life. I

Hi Nancy, I had a complete loss of my right side basal ganglia that left me paralyzed on the left side. I’ve regained a lot of movement over the last couple years, but it took a really long time, including being arrested and charged with several violent crimes, before I finally found out that there is an emotional impact to a basal ganglia stroke and it’s pretty serious. I would start to have a panic attack as I lost control of my anger and agitation, and it was so painful to feel myself spiraling out of control each time. I finally ended up getting online therapy and a psychiatrist along with it. This has helped tremendously. The psychiatrist was able to start me on a low-dose of gabapentin. The emotional attacks feel like a form of spasticity affecting my feelings and not my muscles. The anticonvulsant as well as Seroquel were able to really relieve that difficulty in pain. I think we should also talk about supplementing with magnesium and calcium more often. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you’re not alone.

Only just discovered you ! Your fluency in the topic shines through as does your ability to take a holistic view. I have started sharing with my peers. I think purpose built second generation peer support communities software will revolutionise chronic care. I would love to have a chat with you about efforts to make this a reality - Facebook gives us first generation 'proof of concept' upon which many improvements can be made

Keep telling your medical providers and ask them directly for help with your specific symptoms. Traumatic stress after a stroke is common so counseling may also help you.
