Unfiltered cigs are better, the filter spreads the tar out in a way to maximize surface area contact to your lungs. I llooked this up like 10 years ago, so if the science says different now I'll pre-apologize just incase lmao. I used to smoke for 10 years, quit a long time ago after my epilepsy got out of control ( it was either cigarettes or epilepsy meds lmao )

@@TWEEMASTER2000Filtered cigarettes are often perceived as being "safer" than unfiltered cigarettes, but this is a misconception. Here's why filtered cigarettes can be just as harmful, or even worse, than unfiltered ones: 1. **Deeper Inhalation**: Filtered cigarettes can encourage smokers to inhale more deeply, drawing the smoke further into the lungs. This deeper inhalation can increase the exposure of the lungs to the harmful chemicals in the smoke. 2. **False Sense of Security**: The presence of a filter might lead smokers to believe that the cigarette is less harmful, potentially leading them to smoke more. 3. **Filter Fibers**: Some research suggests that cigarette filters can break down during use, potentially releasing fibers and other filter components, which can then be inhaled. 4. **Compensation Behavior**: Smokers of light or filtered cigarettes might compensate for the lower smoke yield by smoking more cigarettes or taking more frequent and deeper puffs. This can lead to an increased intake of harmful substances. 5. **Toxic Chemicals**: Filters do not effectively block all the toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many harmful substances, including tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide, are still inhaled. It's important to note that both filtered and unfiltered cigarettes pose significant health risks and are linked to numerous diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and respiratory problems. The best choice for health is not to smoke at all.

It's on the most until you think about it for more that a minute. We are currently living in the period with the most litteriate and educated % of humans ever to exist. And that isn't slowing down. 24hr doom scrolling that I will happily admit I am totally guilty of can make you believe otherwise. But the general population is smarter now than it has ever been, it's just now anyone can show exactly how stupid they are thanks to social media.
@sjmcc13
@sjmcc13 7 ай бұрын
@tmarritt the thing with idiocracy is that what is described is possible, but more likely to take a lot longer. It falls under evolutionary theory. Traits that help reproduction tend to be favored and get passed down more often. Traits that hinder it get passed down less. A century ago, being smarter was a benefit and helped, so I would be selected for. With modern media and tech intelligence, it is less needed for all but a few professions, and combined with modern health care meaning and religious beliefs, this leads to disadvantageous traits to survive and propagate more often. It is still needed, but it is becoming less and less so as tech advances. And well the computers in Idiocracy seem to be past the level that development would be needed, as long as maintenaned properly. Over time, this can compound and reduce the rates of traits no longer needed, and I crease the rates of traits that are no longer a hindrance. We already see a tendency for lower education families to have more kids and higher education families to have fewer kids. Which is what the film was badmsed around. But would not be the only factor. Over time, this could compound to lower the average intelligence and even the greatest intelligence of the population. But all that should take much longer than the time frame of the film. Though there are still cultures that value and push for intelligence and education much more the the US, which half pushes the opposite. Personally I like to think that in idiocracy the dumbining was centered on the current developed world, and the US in particular, as those are where the Traits that could enable it are most centered currently, and most of the world is not as dumb, and just ignores the US, and treats it as a garbage dump (those garbage mountains need to come from somewhere).

@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem I've often heard gene editing compared to eugenics but I think as long as anything done happens with informed consent and isn't egregiously immoral then there won't be any major problems, certainly if we had the ability to eliminate genetic and hereditary illnesses and defects as well as inborn mental health issues like autism (saying this as someone with it) then that should happen to everyone (I don't think consent is nessesary here should be treated like a mandatory vaccine) then if parents want to ensure certain hair color skin color etc that's fine, if we can boost physical fitness and intelligence then great, I really don't think there are enough downsides to outweigh all these benefits

Eugenics more likely than not would work fine[from a medical perspective], provided you were breeding exclusively based on only one or two traits rather than breeding for a specific appearance, such as focusing exclusively on measurable intelligence, physical strength, or physical endurance. you just need to start with say the global top 2% in any category and make them have lots of babies Most of the problem with dogs is directly related to how narrow a breed's gene pool is, but a wide starting pool and careful tracking of bloodlines to avoid congenital defects would solve that. *Ethically* on the other hand, it breaks down fairly rapidly once you start labeling the kids successes or failures and then earmark who the successes can breed with

"Volvo - they're boxy but they're good." Don't know if you'll mention this movie in this episode but the film "Crazy People" (1990) is about advertising & honesty with a lot of product placement. The lead, Dudley Moore has a nervous breakdown & is committed. He ends up starting a new advertising agency with other patients & they come up with slogans like "Jaguar - For men who'd like hand jobs from beautiful women they hardly know." and "Volvo - they're boxy but they're good." There's also adverts for a Greek travel agency, one that goes: "Forget Paris. The French can be annoying. Come to Greece. We're nicer." And another one called "Come... IN the Bahamas" for the islands' national tourism board. It's a great movie & Volvo actually liked the honest advert campaign.

I replied to your comment before I watched the video I didn't realise that Toyota had an on the radio 📻 at the beginning of the opening scene anyway I was just saying that to my friend when I was talking about how good the movie was did he remember the red Toyota pickup at the end of the movie that Marty's Dad bought him, I was only young at the time, but I thought it was the coolest motor ever! Thanks for a great video. In the UK, you were not allowed to put products into music. They would be afraid that companies would be paying artists to put their product in their song for payment. Kind of like the payola scandal that has been here in the US. . “Kodachrome“ by Paul Simon was banned in the UK. And she refused to change it. mentioning once or twice you can remove it from the song. “Kodachrome” by Paul Simon couldn’t be played. And he refused to re-edit the song. Lola by the Kinks mentioned Coca-Cola. the record company forced them to remove Coca-Cola in the song took out but they had to removed from the song. It also happened in the song “This Note’s for You” by Neil Young. But if you look at the older James Bond movies, they had product placement everywhere. Just the cars, Aston Martin, the Lotus Esprit , BMW, and AMC. And that’s just the cars that are in the movies But that changed. As an example, the UK broke major grounds just a few years ago, when on February 28th 2011 TV programs made for the UK audiences were allowed for the FIRST TIME to include product placement - on certain conditions. These conditions were outlined by the governing body, Ofcom. My apologies. AutoCorrect works like shit and I didn’t proofread it. Sorry.

Use of trademarks in movies/TV is actually an interesting topic. There have been some interesting court cases. TLDR: you don't actually have to get clearance to use a trademark in a movie/tv show as long as the item is being used as intended and does not disparage the brand. The concept of disparaging the brand isn't actually as clear as you might think ie: if a villain was using said brand, courts have deemed that not disparaging to the brand. However, rather then getting caught up in a potentially expensive lawsuit (which you stand a strong chance of winning), it's generally easier and cheaper to get clearance ahead of time and potentially work out a product placement fee for the brands you would like to use.

Fun Fact the production studio that did the California Raisins? Will Vinton Studios... In 2002 they were bought out by the guy who owns Nike, and he brought on Henry Selick (the guy who made Nightmare Before Christmas) to join them and in 2005 they were re-branded as Laika. Same studio that Made Coraline and Paranorman and Kubo made the California Raisins and the Dominos Noid. They also created the M&M characters. I dunno I just think it's cool that those companies are the same company lol. We have a long, proud tradition of animators in America.

The movie with ads on tanks is called Southland Tales. Great movie, largely forgotten. The story with the tanks is the U.S. military needed sponsors to fight WW3, so they puts Hustler ads on the tanks Nascar style. I've always wondered how much Wendy's paid for their product placements in the abysmal "Highlander 2" (there can be only one! plus five sequels, two tv series, a dozen or so novels, a comic series, and a cartoon...). There's one overly-long scene where a pair of morticians are talking as they examine the bullet-riddled remains of MacLeod and Ramirez -- but for the entire scene the camera doesn't move from this tight zoom on a Wendy's bag & cup hehe! And then there's the 1975 "Death Race 2000," which I was watching on late-night sometime in the 90's. One of the commercial breaks featured David Carradine (who also starred in the film, along with a young Sylvester Stallone!) promoting his meditation videos. His commercial ended with a very relaxed and sedate Carradine extending his hand towards the camera and saying "Come, let me show you the secrets to inner peace and harmony" -- which immediately cuts to a clip of some of the movie's more over-the-top vehicular homicides as a gravel-voiced announcer loudly barked out "And now back to Death Race 2000!!!" 🤣
