Oh yeah! College cooking! I remember that time I busted out my large frying pan and cooked 60 eggs at the same time. I oversalted the giant mass of protein, but invented the technique of microwaving my serving of eggs in a bowl of water, and then pouring the water out. Makes them fluffy, leaches out the salt, and gives them new life. Yes. I ate nothing but eggs for 3 weeks. I am no longer a huge fan of eggs.

Xylitol is brilliant. It's extracted from birch trees and is as sweet as ordinary sugar with fewer calories, and the really neat thing is that tooth decay bacteria mistake it for sugar and stop working because they starve themselves of real sugar and can't function, so it actually protects you from tooth decay. It's as "natural" as cane or beet sugar and is technically a sugar alcohol. I love the stuff. I now have no added sucrose sugar at all in my diet because of it.

Another problem with those ice breaker packs is that xylitol is not just horrendously toxic to dogs (so there's way too much available in an easy way in that form) but also that more than a small amount of it, if you're not acclimated, will give you wicked gas and diarrhea. The stuff has some pretty cool antimicrobial properties though, good addition to mouthwash and nasal rinse!

Fun(?) fact: Quite a while ago a friend of mine somehow managed to go to eat at a military base but had to leave a copy of his id at the entrance to the base. A while later he suddenly got sued for being the registered owner of a warehouse in another country where they found a drug plantation. Turns out someone got hold of the copy of his id and the company renting the warehouse never requested to see the original. Now that I'm retelling this I notice that I never heard whether the figured out how they got that copy...

So I live in the USA, and yes I own 3 guns. A 9mm handgun, for daily carry; a 12 gauge shotgun, for Turkey and duck hunting, and a .50 barritt for large game hunting and livestock defense. Not a lot of guns, but definitely not the most in town. The choice of guns I own is not unreasonable for my job and where I live. I run a cattle ranch deep in the Colorado mountains. Out here we have brown bears, big horn ram, mountain lions, Bobcats, badgers, porcupine, beavers, turkeys, duck and deer
