methylated = no much MGMT produced = DNA less likely be repaired after gets distributed by TMZ (vs if unmethylated). So the statement should have been "the UNmethylated MGMT has a poorer px"

In a nutshell: TMZ is more effective if MGMT is inactive. MGMT becomes inactive if its promoter region is methylated.
