tbh i always thought that the hero was a regular peasant farmer who was just chosen to be the hero (hence why they faded into obscurity and became a farmer), who was taught to be pacifist (probs lost their family tbh) before they became the hero. The hero is so frightened by the fact that people as strong and violent as them and the king can even exist which is also why they chose to fight and kill the king and grow old in their farm. I think that having the hero be somebody who was just caught in the crossfire and had to live through everything the demon king is preaching to them about would be interesting. Imagine if the person who is part of the big reasons why your simple peasant life is literally hell wanted to *marry* you, and worse yet, thinks you’re somehow bonded by fate as *equals???* I would lose my mind.

Gosh WHAT a script, and such a performance, my brain went on an imaginative adventure today, thank you for that enrichment 😌 That plan at the end is SO messed up! The reveal was really cool too. This wicked plot made the hero so at odds with themselves, they will never know peace, but of course even if the situation would be better with the demon king.. their very nature prevents them from joining him. I feel like i just woke up from a dream. So engrossing, im afraid I'll be thinking about this for a while. We are all at odds with ourselves in some way so it was easy to fall into the scenario.

Essay incoming: I really like the Demon King and the MC as characters because as the storyline progresses, you can put the pieces together, and realize that the king is essentially a sociopath. That's terrifying to realize too because in the beginning, yeah - he makes sense. Everything he says about the world is correct. What does the MC possibly have to gain from rejecting these offers or facts? But they do. Are they stupid? It sure as hell seems that way - or are they not? Everytime the MC holds on to their stubbornness, this pushes the king into anger, because, like he says, he can't understand someone who would reject a life of comfort or getting revenge or anything they want. So he then tried to poke holes into the hero's character. An attempt at both trying to understand them, and regain the upper hand that the king feels he is losing. He is used to using. He blatantly says he provides everything that his people need, that they're well cared for and no one is malnourished. But not because he cares about them, no, it's because they are of use to him. How he speaks of the humans killing thousands of demons, he's not wrong, it's horrible, and yeah, the humans are far worse no doubt in this scenario - but does he _actually_ care about that, or is he just using it as another tool of persuasion? And the thing is, I don't think he fully realizes that he's doing this, at least not in every circumstance. I believe some of it is on a subconscious level. And when further met with a force that seems to have no needs or wants, no weaknesses, it's infuriating, resulting in the mental breaking. There, again, selfishness comes into play. He sees the hero as an object to use, but also wants said object to entertain him, and something braindead isn't worth it. He's prioritizing his own wants over the good of his people. Breaking the hero immediately and using them as a tool to save demonkind is what a selfless villain would do. And then the most damning part, in the end, when he cannot do anything against an immovable force, can't turn them into a tool, he's willing to sire an offspring for the sole purpose of killing the hero. He perceives his unborn child as a tool as well. Just as he perceives everyone. In his perspective, as long as others are treated well enough, they have no reason or desire to disobey. And that is why he loses, and I imagine, will lose in the future, because all he's ever known is manipulation, and not the actual care for others. Unless he can learn. The MC I like because, aforementioned, they seem stupid, stubborn, and hypocritical. Just a stereotype, a nobody being used by humanity to play the part of a righteous hero. But actually… I think they know that. I believe that everything they've done is self-motivated. All those around them, including the king, may believe they've been tricked and deceived into a life as a forgotten hero, though maybe they truly just never cared to begin with. They've chosen what they want or don't want to do, and yes, in that regard, they are selfish too, but their choices are definitely swayed more by what they think is good rather than for self gain. Selfishly unselfish. Now, this might be a stretch, but perhaps the hero was biding their time all along, waiting to see the true nature of the king, if he was worth following, or if he was unaware of his own vices, and having seen the latter, the MC chooses to remain the enemy. What's more powerful than letting your enemy believe you're a simpleton? I wonder if the MC was disappointed by this, sad about the true nature of the king. Maybe they believed they'd finally found an equal, only to be let down. If these prophecies of the hero being the one to save the demons, then I believe that one day, they will become king.

Hear me out- not exactly a change of heart or mentality, but his obsession with the listener is so consuming even in this audio that he snaps and practically begs for the Hero to be with him- it's not love, its infatuation and obsession. He needs the hero to be close to him to some extent while the hero wasn't needing him at all. Imagine being so focused on one person and they simply do not feel the same. That would and has driven the demon king insane thinking about the hero, I'm surprised he had the patience to do all of this and still gets upset when the hero resists. Like that's the point of the hero, they are this way because it's THEM not some mentality. he got so angry like--- I hope that he somehow falls from grace and THEY KISS MWUAH MWUAH MWUAH!! This was a wonderful story, I wish there was more I was curious to find out why the Hero kept resisting right till the end, the reason behind it was a very clever idea, but I have to admit to being rather annoyed by the Hero's actions 😂 You have the handsome, charming Demon King who would give them anything and everything that they had ever wanted, treating his own people better than the humans did theirs. Yet in the end the Hero would rather choose a life of misery and always looking over their shoulder while they are shunned by the world. Me personally, I would have put up a little fight just to see how badly the Demon King wanted me, then given in 😅 I really loved listening to this, you could go professionally to be a voice artist, it's perfect! I love audios that make me imagine the scenarios that happen after it ends. Like, all that stubborn and hard headedness finally amounted to the hero just breaking down in tears the moment the demon king disappears forever. Nothing turned out at all like the hero thought it would after his defeat all those years ago and yet they kept a brave face only for it to amount to nothing. Wahhh, it would be cool to hear a sequel where they actually submit, but this was absolute peak story telling so it’s good on its own too. ❤❤
