Hey IM0825. Thanks for the video. The video quality is great. Looks like a few watchers already covered the importance of getting grease on the new rotors and pads. Wanted to mention a few things that others didn't cover. 1. It's a bad idea to push fluid back into the braking system. Since the incorporation of ABS braking you should force the dirty fluid out of the system. Apply slight clamping pressure and open the bleeder valve. Press the piston all the way in and you should see fluid coming out of the bleeder. Close the bleeder immediately. Second, It's a good idea to ensure caliper slides and rubber boots are all working and in good shape. If slides aren't working you may only get stopping power from 1 pad. Lastly, bring a 14mm, 17mm, 8mm wrench.

Nice video, one helpful tip. Make sure you do not touch the brake pad inner surface with your hands. Also make sure to spray new rotors down with brake cleaner and wipe the packing grease. Also apply brake cleaner to any where you touch with grease hands so that the brakes work how they are supposed to.

Thanks for taking the time to post this video. I have changed pads/rotors on other vehicles and just wanted to check the RX would not present me with surprises. One tip - smear copper grease on hub before you attach a new rotor. This will prevent the rotor fusing to the hub (heat, moisture, rust!) and make it easy to get off next time.

After you set the new pads on by pushing the caliper pistons back into the bore, make sure you press on the brake pedal several times to push the pads back against the rotor or you will have no brakes.

Dave M Hi Dave - Thanks for watching and for the comment...good point. After getting everything back in place and the "cap placed back on the brake fluid master cylinder" pump those brakes and you'll feel them build up that pressure again. If you don't feel that resistance or pressure at the brake peddle then recheck everything... Hope you have a good weekend...

Thanks for sharing the video. Normal process as I expected, just had to check to see if I would encounter any surprises.

One thing to do is before you put the new rotor on spray it and wipe it with brake cleaner which removes the rust initiator rotors a have rust inhibitor grease in used for storage you need to remove itit can damage your brake pads and also loss braking power Another thing is lubricate the caliper slides with silicone grease or silicone paste so the slides move freely and does not seize up

uprednecked Thanks for watching and for adding that helpful information. Not being an expert in any way it's always good to get more information for the future. Cool video on seeing whats inside a oil filter. Thanks again uprednecked and hope you have a good one...

Nice video. Where did you place your jack stands? Oh, did you use breaker bar to release the caliper bolts to remove them. They are usually very tight to remove using only a ratchet wrench. Thanks for the video. Good thing Lexus doesn't use brake sensors, it would be much more work like BMW, Audi, Mercedes all require sensor replacements.

H Ken Hi Ken. Thanks for watching. As for the jack stands I usually place them under part of the support framing just back from the wheel area. Hard to explain and probably different on other vehicle's. Place them under an area that is a permanent part of the car. Although a different vehicle here's a picture of the jacks being used when I replaced a radiator. You are right the caliper bolts can be very tight. I usually use a socket wrench and sometimes do need to tap on the handle slightly with a hammer to break them free. A breaker bar would easier giving better leverage. The only sensors are the small metal clips that make noise when contact is made with the rotors. Thanks again and I hope you have a good week..

Does your RX330 shake when you brake? I replaced the brakes on my RX330 about 15,000 miles ago because they were shaking really bad while braking, when I pulled it apart there was still a lot of meat left on the pads but the rotors were obviously wasted, now its shaking again really bad. My Tundra had the same issue and that was because the brakes were too small and there was a recall and even after the recall they still sucked. So I am just wondering if it is my terrible driving or do other RX330 owners experience the same thing. Also Amazon has a Powerstop kit front and rear for 165.00. Thank you for the good video.

It's a design issue Jacob. RX330's are notorious for warping rotors quickly. Lots of info on the net about it. You can buy high end rotors to help stop the warp but chances are it will still come back within 25k miles if your driving habits are more aggressive than an old lady. Driving style has something to do with it but not everything. People have reported longer periods of time between rotor replacements with nicer Brembo discs.
