Thanks for this helpful video. Unfortunately, it seems they changed the tolerance on calipers on newer Bolt Pro models, and made the diameter 1-2mm smaller. No BB5 pads I’ve purchased will fit (not even the Corki ones you pictured at the start of the vid). So when you try to put your first pad in and move it up and out of the way (like what you show at 8:24), it won’t go up - and so the 2nd pad can’t even be slotted in. The only option I’ve seen is to grind about 1-1.5mm off of the backing plate. I’m not sure why there’s a discrepancy between older and newer models, but Jetson won’t respond to any of my support requests.

Shiva, The hex bolts bolts holding the caliper unit probably have a thread lock compound applied at assembly. Application of a hot air heat gun makes removing the bolts very easy as it softens the anaerobic bond of the thread lock compound. Upon reassembly, introduce new thread lock. Bob's your uncle.

@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, yes the price did go up on this bike unfortunately. Perhaps the brake pads are rubbing against the disk? Try using the adjuster as I showed in my video to loosen the brakes a bit, it might help. If not, you might need new brake pads. Thank you for watching all my videos and supporting my channel.

My rear brake is still making noise and its coming from the disc. I have already tried the adjuster but there is still noise and I read it maybe the disc rubbing against the break assembly.

I can make a video in the future with that tutorial. I wonder if your brake caliper is bent somehow? When you check your brakes, do you see the clearance? If you can rotate the wheel freely, the problem might be elsewhere. Sometime putting some lubricant on the hub (bearings) solves the noise issue. Thanks for watching my videos.

I have an issue where the front brake is constantly rubbing, but not from the adjustable side. It is rubbing on the pad that is attached to the main brake assembly. Is there a way to adjust that side pad too? I think this may have happened after my daughter hit a curb that was too high so possibly the wheel got shifted or something too. I can’t quite figure out what the issue is but the disc is constantly rubbing on the pad and the wheel does not spin freely. Any tips to check? Thanks
@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, it could be a few things. My guess would be that the disc bent slightly causing it to rub on the pads. You can certainly remove the brake assembly and check if the disc is bent and you can try to make it straight. If the disc is bent, you can also purchase a new one. However, I would have a bike shop take a look at it since it could be dangerous to ride when the wheel doesn't rotate freely.

Please make sure the brake pads are not rubbing against the rotor disc. You can loosen the pads by using the methods identified in this video. If not, try to listen closely on where the noise is coming from. You might even have a bent brake rotor.

Your videos are really helpful, Thanks! My front wheel is rubbing and I've tried adjusting that wide bolt you show in this video, however, the pad that is rubbing against the disc is the other one, the one closer to the black mount. As soon as I mount the black thing (caliper?) to the frame, the pad already touches the disc. Any idea how to adjust that? I've tried losening the brake cables but the pad still touches the disc even without any pression to the cable. Thank you

And I can't find anything from jetson to order the proper pads. Bad business. Everything is from online people. That claim they fit the jetson pro. But don't. Very up setting. Do you have any recommendations to get right pads. Thank you.

That was a great episode, Shiva! I never thought about brake pads for all of these vehicles coming with disc brakes. I guess that you have to be careful with the hydraulic disc brakes on more expensive models? I thought that this video was going to be about doing your own brake service on a Tesla Model 3. When you live where they salt the roads, every two years the pads should be removed and the back of the pads need a lubricant and you have to check for rust, because the pads are rarely used and rarely get hot, there can be a lot of rust. The second part of your video was going to be about your electric bike.
@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mitchell, hope you are doing well. Thank you very much for watching my video and supporting my channel. My apologies if my title was confusing. Yes, this bike doesn't have hydraulic disc brakes so the repairs are easier. I don't think I will attempt brake service on my Model 3. I would be very scared 🙂 It does make sense to service those brake pads every two years for those places where they salt the roads. Luckily they don't do that out here.

Yeah sure tell us more about the differences in break pads
@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
The biggest difference is noise. The sintered metal pads make a lot of noise but they also handle high temperatures. If you are in an extreme conditions (mud, water, grit, sandy trail), I would say get the metal pads. The resin pads are quieter and are great for average weather conditions. They are also better for your disk as they don't "bite" the disk as quickly. The metal pads have longer break-period, so it will take longer to bring your bike to a stop compared to the resin pads. If you ride a lot of downhill, I would say go for metal pads. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support to my channel.

This video just saved me $160.00! I remembered it, and my Jetson's brakes needed replacement. The bike shop wanted to charge $20.00 (per pad), and $80 for labor. Buying the pads on Amazon and doing it myself saved me a week's worth of groceries! THANK YOU again.

Thank you so much for your Jetson videos! Your warm delivery and information packed videos are great! I just got this bike recently and there is a click, click coming from the back.l also I noticed the indicator/cruise control gets warm. Are these normal ? Or should I be concerned? Remember you are awesome! Nanaste
@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your kind words and support. I really appreciate it. The click noise could be caused by many things. If it was a "humm" noise, then it would be normal. The click could mean there is a loose part in your motor or the chain is loose. It is normal for the battery indicator to get a little warm as it is getting power from the battery but it shouldn't really be noticeable. Do you have an ability to return and get a new one? If not, I would recommend getting in touch with Jetson. If you need to get in touch with Jetson, first pinpoint where the click is coming from. Put the bike on its stand and rotate the wheel to listen. Sorry you are having issues, hope this all gets resolved soon. Namaste!

@@ShivaSapkota I bought two bikes both have click noise coming from rear wheel. I also experience similar problems on both bikes including front wheel not freely rotating on both bikes. I'm going to try the brake adjustment on the video much appreciated. In addition, on both bikes I have experienced rear tire being substantially under-inflated from the tire spec.. It seems that these bikes are being put together too quickly and attention and lack of QA process is occurring.

@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kaden, yes the bike does make some "humming" noise from the rear wheel. This is coming from the motor, if that is what you meant. Listen to it closely and if it is coming from the brakes, try to adjust them by turning the adjuster as I showed in my video. Finally, make sure the chain is not touching anything, sometime that could be making the noise as well. Hope this helps, thanks for watching my video.

Shiva, will you ever get a small solar panel? The reason I say this is because while one of the battery dies while riding and you use the external battery. You can easily be charging your battery that has died on you. Is my idea crazy? Or is it something that possibly be done? -- love your videos by the way I find them extremely helpful.

Hi Shiva, the handlebar twist throttle has led to accidental launches with inexperienced riders in my family. Would it be possible to install a switch to disable the twist throttle? Something like a bypass on a particular wire to the control unit.
@ShivaSapkota

I have actually been getting this question a lot lately. So, I am currently in a process of taking apart all wirings on this bike so I will be able to answer your question soon. I think you can just run a new wire from the controller and do a separate thumb throttle and disconnect the power to your main throttle. Again, give me a little bit of time and I will be back with a video possibly with wiring diagram for this bike and ideas on how to add a secondary switch to the throttle. Thanks for watching my video.

Hi again buddy. I've just swapped out my jetson bolt 6ah battery for a 12.8ah thanks to your videos. I was getting about 7 miles on the 6ah one which made me think it was faulty as most people get much more. I've just tested it and got 12 miles with the new battery. But it was windy and I was on roads and slight hills. Also I'm about 12 stone. I was still going and the bolt had just dropped to one bar of power . My bolt is the one without the pedals. My question is does it use more battery at 19 mph setting than the 15 mph setting ? Mine is the old one you can speed up with the app. I'm after trying to get 20 miles without adding 2 batteries that's all. Thanks in advance. Keep your videos coming you are a number one star man
@ShivaSapkota
@ShivaSapkota 3 жыл бұрын
Hi my friend, hope you are doing well. 7 miles seem very low on the Jetson Battery, was it always like that since the beginning? To answer your question, yes you will get more range by going 15mph compared to 19mph. Higher the speed, lower range you will get. This is because the bike needs more power to function with higher speeds, more energy is lost in heat and the bike is working harder to propel you faster against the winds. However, decreasing 4 mph might only get you an extra mile or two...what if you keep the extra jetson battery and do dual batteries? That should get you 20 miles.

@@ShivaSapkota Thanks for fast reply buddy. I bought the jetson second hand and it looks brand new but they haven't used it for a year so that's why I thought the battery may be no good. But judging by today the battery at 7 miles is ok as the double 12.8 ah Looks like it will only do 14 . I'll test properly at weekend When wind drops. It was struggling against wind. I nearly stopped. It still had 2 bars when I stopped running it. It's still way better than it wap with new battery. I don't want to add 2 batteries really. I've also bought a 4 amp charger to speed up charging. Just testing that now. Thanks for your help. I would be interested in knowing what range difference is at set at 19 mph compared with set at 15 mph though he you get chance some time. 😁

@@skycamvideo I will test that once I figure out my controller upgrade to make my Bolt Pro go 19mph 😊 I bet you will get much higher range if you ride on a less windy day. Wind really affects the performance of your bike. Did you see my response on your question about the cruise control? The cruise control wires are yellow and white on the throttle harness. I am going to be posting a video this afternoon showing how to add a thumb throttle and I have close-up view of the throttle harness. Also, you gotta teach me how to fly those drones 😁 I have got the original Mavic Pro but haven't really flown much.

@@ShivaSapkota wow brilliant. I still fly my old Mavic pro. Best ever drone. Nice to see you checked out my channel. Gtd been flying for about 8 years now. The reason I want to get the 20 miles is to take my drones up into the hills. Etc. I used to ride a powered skateboard but nearly died when I came off at 30mph and hit a lamp post so now I'm riding a much safer transport. Nothing to flying the Mavic pro. Nice drone. I've been out to sea 3 miles with mine to record a ship. Scary but worth it. Anyway can't wait for your next video buddy.
