- Greetings OverlandEd, I'm planning to do a 2013 tundra Brake replacement soon with new rotors, pads and calipers... BTW - I do like the the Callahan - Red Calipers however, the link you posted indicates that they're currently unavailable and don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. So, I think I'll just get new remanufactured calipers and paint them red myself. But, I'd like your opinion on a question of brake bleeding. Do you think it would be beneficial to flush out the brake system of the master cylinder and, brakes lines with *new* DOT 4 fluid with the old calipers still installed in the attempt to remove the majority of old contaminated brake fluid till it runs clean and clear *before* installing the new calipers? I'm thinking it would minimize the possibility of leaving behind more of the old fluid mixture when purging and bleeding out the entire brake system through the new calipers. Thanks, -Skoot

Flushing the brakes with the old calipers might be a good idea.

How do you know no air is going back into the system through the bleeer valve? Would a cheap vacuum pump on amazon work batter than just a catch bottle?

Check valve

I kept having issues with air leaking at the hose to valve connection and zip ties didn't help so I gave up and used my backup tool....my wife LoL! Two person is so much quicker and easier in my opinion.... doesn't take that long and I don't need to deal with hose to valve connection that simply won't seal correctly....

Obviously an older video, but you want that bottle above the bleeder screw.

One suggestion, I would add a little brake fluid in the catch bottle just enough to cover the hose in the catch bottle maybe 1/4 cup to be safe so air doesn't go into the caliper. I'm sure this won't happen but figure you will have left over brake fluid so adding 1/4 cup in the can won't hurt. Thanks for the video.

Shouldn’t you tighten up the bleeder valve before you remove the bottle?

Would this work for the 5th gen 4Runner?

While I did this procedure on my 3rd Gen 4Runner, the majority of what I show applies to any vehicle.
