How do these work as direct replacement for iron rotors? I thought most carbon ceramic kits came with new calipers as well as rotors & pads.

Hello! I would have a question if I could. I'm thinking of buying an E63S. (2018) CCB is in the car. What is the service life of ceramic discs with average use(no trck use)? 150-20 0 000km or 300 000km(apox)? Second question: the pebbles really completely destroy the disc if they get stuck between the disc and the insert? Thanks!

Hey! Thanks for the question. If you don't plan to use the AMG on track, don't worry about the discs. They'll probably last 200.000km of normal use, if not more. And the pebbles are more of a myth - the first generation of CCB discs were super fragile and they were frequently flaking/crumbling like cookies. The newer versions are much more sturdy and resistant.

do u recommend ST brakes?

Hey! Depends on the use - for extreme heavy track use, be prepared to have them refurbished a bit more often as they recommend (my fronts are currently at ~9 track days and ready for refurbishment). I think for occasional track use and mostly road use, they are a really good alternative to stock PCCBs.

@@WeAreShifted thank you as my use is the later mostly spirited road use and a few DE days … love the idea of reducing weight both rotors and wheels for my 997.1 RS

ceramic pads are more friendly to the brake rotor

You kept saying carbon fiber... not carbon ceramic. 😅

Errrr, car brake discs are made of iron NOT steel because "cast iron discs have a porous surface which give superior braking performance". Motorcycle discs are normally made of stainless steel but they have other considerations. The fact you don't know this basic fact yet are making a video about discs is worrying.

Of course, my bad, they are cast iron! The video is more about the issues carbon-ceramics, but you’re right, shouldn’t have made such an obvious mistake.

@@WeAreShifted Even Chris Harris keeps saying "steelies" and the guy from Engineering Explained called them steel discs so you're not alone. Still blows my mind but appreciate your reply :-)

@@JCJW101 Yeah exactly, it's what we use in conversations, but it's not accurate. :) Thanks for pointing it out!
