@RemcoHitman2 жыл бұрын
Hiya Jake, cool video as usual, great to see those Sprint already mounted 👍🏻 A few hints though: that brake pedal travel is pretty long (esp. for this car), that's not making the heel&toe any easier. Try the 37mm elastomer with two hard spacers, should make things easier. As said before, try to bring the brake forward for easier H&T. Also, you will notice in the loafer cam™ that you're sometimes dragging the throttle under braking, which is making things difficult. And always try to brake firmly in one go, then slowly letting off as you approach the apex. You will have much more control over the car. That's what these pedals were designed for with the load cell brake and highly progressive elastomers 👍🏻

I started off with Load Cell pedals and I probably will not go to base pedals ever again, purely because of feel and adjustability (I had a G25 many years ago before I got the new rig setup last year). Make sure your brake gamma is set properly too! I found it to be at 2.40 for some reason in Content Manager and set it to 1 and now it feels much nicer. Especially if you have springs with varying stiffness that you'd like to try out (I have the TL-CM pedals, so unsure if the HV pedals are the same deal) and you will find you'll be much more consistent when you find the right setup for them and how you use them. Happy Racing! P.S. love the slippers my guy

You should feel right at home with the brake pedal pretty quickly and I'm talking an hour or two not days, the reason you are struggling is because you have far too much travel on the brake pedal which means you are relying more on distance than feel - shorten and stiffen the pedal then you can only rely on feel. After stiffening the pedal you will need to change or calibrate the sensitivity to make the brake feel natural, and it is this where you may need to spend time as it directly affects how the pedal feels. If it does not feel completely natural then you need to adjust only the sensitivity until it does, you will know when you are getting it right because it will feel right. luv you vids by the way, I started in the 90's and you remind me of so much sim history.

Obviously cant tell how hard your pressing but the brake pedal has a bit of travel and sits much lower than the throttle under full depression...I found it harder the heel and toe like that, so i brought my brake pedal closer to me so when its fully depressed it is in line with my throttle. Perfect for heel and toe imo.

If you're not already I would make sure you try the 'Default+' profile thats included with the sim. It was introduced last year sometime and really changed how it feels. Otherwise its just tuning the strength to your liking!
@Leynad7782 жыл бұрын
I could't get RBR to run, but AC and ACC shouldn't be that different today if the wheel is properly calibrated and default+ is probably the best to start. Maybe don't use low force boost, FX and dampening and with my DDs it's usually off or very low. I'm checking out the upcoming cars with the upgraded tyres in the beta (GT3, GT4, Porsche Cup, P1) and feels outstanding from the FFB, especially GT3. Release is probably this Saturday or the next days.

One more thing, what's your wheel rotation setting? It seems really on edge, perhaps the maximum lock is too low? I know GPL dinos are prone to use low numbers. Anyway, try 540° or 600°, that's in line with what they used back then (Lotus 49 had 540°).

I set up my brake pretty stiff with less brake-pedal-travel as well, but after now over 7 years of using load-cell-pedals it's also a progress over time. My first load-cell-pedals were this old CSL Elite and I didn't like the stiffness and short travel, why I upgraded to the HE Pro pedals soon after. I was using the default soft config far too long without trying stiffer settings, but the default was probably the best initially.

Is it really necessary to Toe/Heel at each and every down shift? Not focusing on being accurate with maximum braking effect. I would think the reality of these vintage F1 cars, you would have to apply a huge amount of brake force through the leg, making it near impossible to blip the throttle with the heel under heavy braking. Looking at your setup here, you are just pushing lightly with the toes on the brake, I feel this is simply not realistic. The leg force required should push your body back into your seat. Should almost feel like doing a seated squat. You need to way stiffen up the brake pedal and shorten its stroke while focusing far less on blipping the throttle.
@GPLaps2 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind im not an expert, but I have read a bit about this: The Lotus 49 gearbox was capable of downshifting without a clutch at all, but in reality the gearbox was extremely fragile and likely couldn't do that for an extended period of time. It is most likely that the gearbox was actually double-clutched in a lot of scenarios to preserve and reduce wear, and single clutched for more aggressive driving moments. There are some onboards available from Graham Hill but its not easy to tell what he is doing. You're probably right that my brake is too soft right now. Coming from a really soft brake its been some adjusting, I'll most likely stiffen it once I get more acclimated. As it is right now its atleast twice as stiff as my old one was already! All in good fun though,
