Kirk Gibson definitely had a flair for the dramatic. Great player. I still find it hard to believe he never played in an All-Star Game, even as a back-up outfielder.

@@unstepintime I think you could make an argument that Daryl Strawberry was more deserving of the MVP than Kirk Gibson in 1988, but I get why Gibson won and I’m ok with it.

I don't understand not walking him. Even if Parish hit a grand slam after the walk it was still the best baseball move in that spot. How could they be so stupid?

Understand that Rich Gossage is a Hall of Famer because he had that killer instinct. Yes, he got burned on that pitch and decision. But his career was made by bring intimidation…with his presence. It was the right decision that he an unfavorable outcome for The Padres. To this day, Gibson is not a member of the Hall and will likely never be.
