After our failed Transfagarsan highway adventure, we check out Bran Castle. This is the castle that inspired the myth and legend of the one and only: DRACULA! This quaint little castle is newly refinished and draws in many tourists to its adorable and spooky aesthetic. Plus, there is tons of good food to be eaten just outside its gates!

Queen Marie indeed...is nicknamed the soldier queen... she fought with the romanian soldiers against the germans and hungarians on ww1 easter front... she is the reason for which the Romanian gained all of the territories including Bassarabia(nowaday Rep. of Moldova) Transylvania and Bucovina... she was the romanian ambassador in Paris after the end of the war... the Romanian doubled in size thanks to her... Her funeral was impressive... she died in Sinaia and was transported to Bucharest via train... From Sinaia to Bucharest ,from her very palace to the tomb , people were on their knees... the legend sais that every single romanian was on its knees in that day Also she is considered the heart of Romania, because she gave her heart to this country... is in a silver box in the National Museum in Bucharest... The last text in her journal was : "When you will read these lines, my people, i would have crossed the threshold in the eternal silence, i became yours in joy and sorrow. I dont know who was greater, the joy or the sorrow. I believe the joy was the greater, but too long was the sorrow" ^ Literaly like this... she was of british nationality actually she was not romanian... but she was more romanian than our polititians

She had British and Russian blood (her mother was the daughter of Tsar Alexander II of Russia and sister of Alexander III). There is a museum in the US dedicated to her: www.maryhillmuseum.org/inside/exhibitions/permanent-exhibitions/queen-marie-of-romania Our beloved Queen... I love her so much. Thank you for your beautiful words! You are such nice, lovely persons!

As Romanian i will tell u that Bran castle is not the real Dracula castle, the one with Bran as Dracula is fake news )) the real Dracula castle is Poenari castle how is realy the true one but Unfortunetly Poenari enter in reabilitation and it cant be visit ((. but if you want a true nice visit i suggest you to visit the Danube Delta ))or to visit Lake Balea how is at the best part of Transfagarasan)

Actually no! There is no "real" castle because Dracula is a FICTIONAL character. Also, read the book before you talk nonsense... the book locates Dracula's castle in the north of Transylvania in Borgo Pass (Pasul Tihuta - jud. Bistrita).

@@bitterblue8115 no ,you are wrong ! . The ficțional vampire dont exist ,but the real Dracula was Vlad the Impaler ! In his time his people didnt adress to him as Impaler or Vlad ,they call him as Dracula ! Which it means son of Dracu, after his father Vlad Dracu( the father and son were called Vlad ) . So when people said that Dracula existed is true, and he was 100 times more amazing that the fictional character. Vlad the Impaler was a romanian William Wallace and even more . He impale the enemies with that 3 metter long wood. He impale enemies ,thiefs, criminals and corrupt boyars ( this would have been great with today politicians ) Vlad is true that have drink one time a bit from a coup of blood but this more to scary some german priest ) . Vlad the Impaler, Dracula ,was more than a simple hero from an uknown land ,his legend and name havent become world famous with the real thing he done ,but such a great person fate this have make him to become world famous ,even as this Vampire ,but the real one was more interesting

@@raulstefan3152 This has nothing to do with what you said in your post about the "real Dracula castle"... again, read the book!!! Poenari castle has absolutely nothing to do with the book and the legend of Dracula that came from the book. It's not even in Transylvania and actually even Vlad the Impaler didn't live there or use it as a primary residence. Of course he lived in the fortress of Targoviste (Curtea domneasca) while he ruled Valahia and other than that he lived most of his live in Budapest.

@@aditusoferu8171 the real stuff was not What they show in that image ,that 3 metter long stoke would have stick in the a*s and go throw the back ,not as in the image throw mouth . This stuff with impale was make not for killing right in the post ,but to make the person die after 2-3 days !!! Yes Very shocking method. This was use many times in Europe in those times ,XV century ,Vlad didnt invante it but have realy know how to use it to scary his enemies and all how didnt respect the laws . This would have been very good to be use with the politicians and with Ghe Dinca )) i think u know that i mean ))

The real name of Vlad Tepes (the Impaler) was Vlad Dracul. This doesn´t have anything to do wirth Dracula. Dracula was a pure invention of Bram Stoker.

here's the most accurate movie about Vlad the Impaler's life and rule. If you are truly interested in knowing the truth rather than the myths, if you have the patience to watch over 2 hours of our national history and if you can overlook the poor quality of the movie (the movie had been made in 1979 communist Romania, after all) then you will understand where the myth comes from (explained very well at 51:15 and 53:08 in the movie), but you'll have to watch the entire movie in order to understand the context properly kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKLFkpqBptmVd7M Also, since it's a movie (a Romanian one, on top of it) you might be inclined to think that it's only bias and propaganda. But this is not true. Sure, there might be a little bias here and there, but overall the movie is very accurate (like I said, it's the most accurate movie about Vlad's life and rule that I've ever watched... well, it's the only one that I know of anyway), so it's worth watching by everyone who is even remotely interested in our national hero. PS: and his name is Vlad, not Vladimir. Vladimir is a Russian name, Vlad is a Romanian one... and Romania has nothing to do with Russia.
