I've worked out like a bodybuilder before and I've also trained with perfect form before. I was bigger when I had bad form and did more weight, but now that I have better form and stretch it out more I feel more flexible. No way is better than the other. It's whatever floats your boat.

He has been a great friend of mine for 20+ years... I know why he gets injured, it is called overtraining. I have a doctorate in this field and it is rare that an exercise harms a person when they have done it for years. Rest, food, time off from gym, stretching, massage, water are crucial in creating a competitive physique. Also, most, if not all, problems occur when the muscle grows faster than the support system can develop to accommodate that muscle.

Branch trains hard I will give you that . Strong but lacks form . He is good there aint just eny person who just says I am going to be on stage with best in the world many few make it pro level on that level . Respect is given where it is dew . Branch has accomplished alot & has achieved that many would die for to reach . This sport is hard & not just for those who criticise other's by what they can not accomplish by many . We are supposed to up lift others to bring out there full potential not break them down to one's own level . All these men you see working there buts off to bring you the olmp should be given respect .

It's funny how people tend to forget that this is his living. He is a full time bodybuilder. He built his physique using trial and error. He eats for outcome not just because someone told him this works. The same goes for his training techniques. He is focused on stimulating the muscle in a certain area therefore his movement may not look perfect to you. If you know anything about muscle adaptation, he won't get hurt if that is how he has trained for life! You must be rookies. Live & Learn

the main thing here is he knows from experience how to work the target muscle using mind muscle connection regardless of weather or not he uses strict form. the bottom line i it works for him and it can work for anyone if done right but yes it will most likely led to injurys

How big are all you guys talking about his form? Remember his muscle size and density plays a huge role in his movements... Having a 23-24 inch arm and a 15-16 inch arm vastly differ in the range of motion. Pure muscle size really affects movement. Very few pro's have perfect form btw. Come train with him then you can understand what I am talking about

One thing I'd like to know. If it takes the hardest of hardcore gyms and loudest hardcore music to get you up and motivated then what happens when you have to workout at gyms where they don't allow loud music and they don't allow you to be loud? Hardcore gyms are fewer in farther in between today. So these bodybuilders who need "hardcore" atmospheres are limiting themselves and boxing themselves in. Bodybuilders have to figure out how to motivate themselves in other ways when they are taken out of their comfort zone and are in a new or different environment. Well, same goes with most other people in most other professions.

Very true... The sheer aggression is awesome tho.. What you said was correct m8... His style of training works for him but obviously at a physical cost.. I'd say 75% of my routine is controlled. The other 25% I share this attitude... The correct balance between the two approaches works for me.. One thing i will say is the Dorian Yates blood and guts "principle" has really changed how I look.. 50% 12 reps, 60% 12 reps, Max to failure.. Not for the Newb tho..

@7drift0king2 I'd say form is a relative term. If you go really strict you can never move the maximum amount of weight. At the same time I don't think this form is good for beginners or someone that is a natural lifter. I'd never use the words bad or wrong because he's obviously getting the results he wants from it.

@raindeerlol If he lifts more than he should then why can he lift it. This isn't a ballet it's weight lifting. The chemical reactions to grow muscle are caused by *intense* muscular contraction. He explodes benching with 135 just as much as he does with 405 etc.

If you workout with proper form every time and use weights that you can lift, you cannot get hurt. Scooby, a bodybuilder on youtube for 20+ years said hes had many injuries in sports, but never in the gym as hes always lifted with proper form. Obviously, as we can see in the video, this guy doesn't do proper form, look at how he does lat pull downs. He's lucky he didn't dislocate both his shoulders.

A good example of how NOT to perform exercises acc. to textbooks - and in interviews or articles the pros underline that it's not how much you lift but how you lift it, the importance of time under tension, feeling the muscle work and all this stuff, yet usually they do the exact opposite of what they preach, which is a bit confusing. However they must do something right as, taking the juice aside, they still posses the gratest muscle mass on the planet.

Agreed. The reason why these pro's get so much injuries IS due to steroids. Steroids aid in growing muscle tissue much faster then tendons and bones. A non steroid user will tend to growth the strength in his tendons and ligaments in tandem with muscle growth. That's a fact.

This is a gym for men and douchebags who didn't assist that kid in finding the EXIT.

I never said he didin't work the lats, BUT he could do it much better, i dont think Branch himself wouldn't mind to get some advice from someone that works with the "body" everyday, and by that i dont meant in the gym! Im a fan of Branch really.. but his form is pretty bad in almost every movement. Why he has a big lats? Because he trains, eats and use roids(i don't care, and im not against it), Could he's lats be bigger and better? HELL YES IT COULD! Period.. end of discussion :) take care
