Branching Out

While Percy was away being mended, Duck was sent to help on the branch line. But I shan't say any more or I will spoil the story!
Well it's been 7 years since the last full episode on this channel, and as we all thought, the last one was to be the last! But things change, (A pandemic for instance, and soon to be married not long after this premiere!) and I'm pleased to finally present 'Branching Out' to you all at last. Production had started in late December 2022, juggling it amoungst ongoing career plans, usual life stuff, wedding plans, quite a few trips out of the country, and here we are.
Quite ironic that two trips to the Talyllyn Railway indirectly halted production across 2023 for instance, as said railway has inspired a notable part of this story. But I shan't say any more for now.
I particularly hope those who desired more after 'Waddling Respect' will be pleased. This is for you especially folks, knowing there's still been a loyal audience and mates who've helped make this Tipperary-based channel what it is.

For a comeback story, this is certainly a great one! I enjoy seeing Thomas and Duck at each other's throats (given that the GWR and SR are both rivals in the pre-British Railways years) and Toby letting them swap jobs and making fools of themselves like an old man laughing on the side eating popcorn at his two grandsons squabble. The model work is pretty awesome and the humor is spectacular, especially at the post-credit scene with Old Grump. This does feel like a Classic version of The Thomas Way. Also, nice to hear Cherry's voice for Annie & Clarabel (I did remember watching that 2-part adaptation of Old Iron before).

Directly after 'Plunge', hence why Henry's seen at the beginning ferrying him off to the Works! In terms of overall Season 2 continuity, I deliberately opted to deduce that said story *could have* taken place after 'A Close Shave', as there's no direct reason beyond episode release order that it could've happened that way.

This was such a great watch, you have really innovated since that previous story, the camera work in this is so fun, the head on shots, the close up shots, ground levels, the stop motion, it was all so clean! the story in this is also a great follow up to waddling respect, must say duck has a really hard time befriending blue engines. truly some great work you’ve made here. -Toby: (would get Thomas and Percy to play Russian Roulette and let them get the guns themselves) -Edward: (tell you not to use guns ever and would keep guns as far away from you as possible though someone would probably still get them) -Skarloey: (tell you it’s a bad idea to use guns but when grabbing them would watch you get screwed over with them) -Rheneas: (would tell you just how much of an idiot you are for wanting to use guns and would keep them locked up far away) -Duke: (would get it completely through your head why you shouldn’t mess with guns and gets you scared to death straight while convincing you to not use them with an actual reason why) -Stepney: (would let you have guns being like “um sure what’s the harm in it” even if he wouldn’t be completely sure deep down) -BoCo: (would scold you for even getting near guns and also keep them away in an even more severe way than Edward) -Fergus: (would yell at you for five hours straight about using a gun and give a whole lecture on how braindead you are for using them) -Freddie: (would be unsure about you using guns around him but wouldn’t want to look lame so would let you use them) -Hiro: (would tell you not to use guns but would then be reluctant to scold you when you’re actually using them) -Stephen: (would be the one to challenge you to a gun brawl with him himself and actually bring up a story about how he used guns in his day) -Bertram: (from how he’s described probably would also find a gun brawl fun) -Glynn: (would be reluctant to letting you play with guns but would eventually also decide to let you play with them too) And I think Culdee would have either Edward or Skarloey’s approach and same with Wilfred, we don’t know much about Ernest or Shane Dooiney so it’s hard to say what they’d let you do about guns. Diesel 10 would likely influence you to use guns and think having them in the first place is a good idea.

Funny enough, that was a subtle indirect goal with this proj; to essentially 'remaster' a previous story with better pacing. Biggest thing I'd wanted to strive for is having the two clashing characters to essentially, screw up together at the same time, as opposed to two unrelated incidents.

I love this story! It's a great example of a Thomas-Duck story! The two are very much alike but are slightly different. Both want to get their work done efficiently and with minimal issue, but Duck is more orderly (Doing things "The Great Western" way) and Thomas is more anarchic ("If I can do it, I will" sort of mentality)! And it's always great when they have a 3rd character to serve as a voice of reason to the dynamic, too! Your work always makes me smile!

@@DaxProductions4124 all depends really, I won't make another story until I know 1. I can do so and 2. If I conquer up a story worth devoting a year and a half to making! It's also a case of deducing what I can construct in terms of locations on the island.
