I'm so happy to meet people with so much knowledge and is willing to share it like this. Thank you so much for your time, and effort; it helped me so so much to get more familiarized with the main pros and cons of having a brand mascot. I don't if you have already made it or not, but I would be interested in knowing what Dos and Don'ts should there be designing a Brand Mascot; how to avoid making them look creepy, or debating whether it should be simple, or more colorful, etc. Thank you so so much!

Hey Lorenzo! I actually don't have much experience in creating brand mascots. It isn't something that I've been hired to do by many clients. I created a brand mascot, many, many ,many years ago. I'm sure if I looked it up now, I'd hate it. haha it is a good topic though and I think could be a great topic for discussion on a future live stream. Get everyone involved and ask what they think makes a good and bad mascot. In fact, I think I might have that as the topic for my next live stream.

Tony the Tiger was the first mascot that came to mind. He had such a larger than life personality! ... (I could volunteer that I really dislike Chester, the Cheetah).

Chester is more of an American mascot, we don't really see him here in the UK. He does look rather smug :) Tony on the other hand, looks friendly and fun :)

Do upscale brands, like cosmetics for instance ever have mascots? I have not found any.and wonder why.
@RockYourBrand3 жыл бұрын
Mascots tend to be used in order to bring a sense of humour, fun or levity to a brand. When it comes to things like high-end beauty or fashion, they are looking more to project elegance and sophistication. They do use brand mascots in a way, it is just that they tend to use sports personalities and fashion models as their brand mascot/ambassador rather than creating a fictional character.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was the first Disney character! Don't know what happened to him but Walt obviously got it right.
@RockYourBrand3 жыл бұрын
It looks like Walt Disney created Oswald while he was working at Universal Pictures. So the intellectual property was Universal's. Micky was the first character that Disney created that he owned outright as the Walt Disney Company. Thanks for mentioning that. Always good to find out these things in case it comes up in a pub quiz :)

can mascots really help pitch plastic recycling business, maybe an environmental eagle!?

Why are some medical mascots more representative of the problem (than the brand / solution)? Examples of this include Belsomra Sleep (a cat representing sleepiness) that fights with Wake (a dog representing wakefulness) to represent insomnia and Saliz's Xifan (an anthropomophic knotted intestine) Superbowl-watching intestines commercial..
@RockYourBrand3 жыл бұрын
I think in those instances, it is because we as humans can quickly make a connection that cats sleep a lot and dogs are very active. It is a good way to get across a message quickly to the viewer.
