Had the pleasure of meeting Eric and Yuka a couple years ago at Whistler. While they both ride above my pay grade, my son tried to chase Yuka down A-Line into the Moon Booter. He said he rode as fast as he could and still got dropped. Props to them both from Indiana.

Hi Alex, if you opt to look further into the NAS please remember, whatever you chose, that you should select a model that uses/supports SSD storage. Platter drives (regular hard-drives) will not have a good time in a moving vechicle - especially when you sometime drive down bumpy roads. Also put s small UPS on it (doesnt have to be big)

I'm not saying you're wrong but older laptops had HDD storage and I never had any issues despite lots of travelling but it is more likely to be an issue if you are using the drive while driving over bumpy roads. As long as it's not set up with RAID 0 (where data is split between two drives without mirroring, it doubles disc read speed but doesn't give you a backup drive) one disc failure isn't the end of the world.

@@sandy_knightyour laptop was not running raid storage, a (most)nas is - and even small vibrations can be a death sentence for platter drives, those are just facts :)

@@Moerkbak Depends what type of RAID you're running, if you're striping your data between two (or more) drives for the performance benefits than yes, any damage to one drive will kill the array. If you are mirroring across two drives for redundancy then no. Also, as I said, you're only likely to cause damage due to vibration while the drive is in use, spinning. If its switched off while you're moving the read/write arm is nowhere near the platter so only a very hard knock will damage it.
