The GWS Slowstick was some of the most fun I have had with RC. It helped that I was new to the hobby when I had them but you could fly them anywhere, they were cheap, easy to make way over powered and still could fly for 45 minutes or more on a 2200mah 3 cell. I had one that I used to drop water balloons. Would spend hours flying at the park by my parents house dropping water balloons at a hula hoop.

Heck, yeah. I used to work at the largest LHS in my area back when electric was just coming out for planes. I think a Futaba balsa and monocoat geared 400 was my first, but the GWS slow-stick was one of my absolute favorites. It was easy to control, could fly at a walking pace with a light breeze, easy to repair, easy to assemble and with those tiny GWS receiver and servos it was just a blast to fly. I really kind of miss the early days of electric RC.

GWS was the bomb, I had a formosa. It flew pretty well even if it was brushed motors and nickel batteries.
@lensrc7460

I had a few of them. I flew them with LensRc Brushless Motors. We knew all the tricks with it, like trimming the elevator to allow max rudder throw for indoor flying, or moving the rudder hinge. Adding a carbon fiber rod leading edge. Fun times.

We had so much fun with all the GWS sticks. But especially the Pico and the Cub sticks. At first we flew them with nicads and nimhd. Then the Qualcom lipo batteries started showing up. They were heavy, but they gave these sticks 30-40 min flight times with the brushed motors. When we added CD Rom brushless motors, the fun really started!

My yard is decent sized but not big enough for a fast rc plane so I have been thinking about picking up a slow stick. I like the eflite vapor because it is extremely slow but I don't know how it would be outside. This looks nice but maybe a little to fast. Right now I have a WLtoys cessna that is actually pretty cool for a cheap chinese crap plane. It is easy to fly and extremely durable. Not bad for $60.

I was designing and flying my own version of this with a 56" wingspan and a Rimfire power system, 35 anp ESC and a 3 cell 2200 mah lipo. Unlimited vertical climbing and 10 minutes flight times. Hovered at 3/4 throttle, slightly undercambered wing with full span ailerons, weighed 28-32 .oz depending on the amount of covering and bomb loads, I dropped a 16 .oz soft drink bottle and it had no problem flying with the added weight. 12 years ago. Just to prove a point but not sure what the point was. Fun? Yes.

My latest RC arrived today. A Redcat Racing 10th scale rock crawler. And then I saw this in my inbox and knew right away I'll be buying one as soon as my bucket has enough money in it. The guy flying it in the clip at Horizon hovers it, so I know that is possible. I love the Night Vapor and I had another stick plane long ago. It had Luftwaffe markings, so I guess WWI was the idea. Misjudged a loop one day and a very exciting near-explosion happened at zero feet AGL. That thing was in a LOT of little tiny pieces. :)

This looks awesome. Back in the day I learned to fly on an H-Ray which was a three channel trainer/race plane. It was rudder, elevator and throttle. Powered by an O.S. Max ,025 schnerle gas engine. I would bounce back and forth between a 9-4 and a 9-6 prop depending on what I wanted to do. One was for speed and the other for power for doing stunts. Then came the "Big H" which introduced me to ailerons. Grand total for years flying was from 1977 - 1985 which includes scale models. My P51B Mustang and F4U1A Corsair both bought built gave me hours of great flying. So this plane would be a great trainer plane for someone starting out or getting back into the hobby. You don't have to fly 100 miles per hour all the time, low and slow works.

Original Slow Stick was and still is a great entry level plane, if you can get one. For under $100. Electronic stabilizers, in my view, have always been an unnecessary extra for people who rather rely on building the control skill on the human hands instead. My true ultralight conversion kit I developed for the original GWS and HK Slow Stick kits should also work on this heavily glorified Slow Stick clone.

Considering the Arrows, E-flite - HobbyZone (Spektrum) planes and an Open Source transmitter-don't want to be locked in to one brand/line.. being budget limited, looking at the RadioMaster TX12 MKII.. My question for you is ELRS vs 4-in-1 vs CC2500 (no idea what that all means) ..for these types of airplanes..not into drones etc..not sure which version I would need..any input/advice would be Most appreciated. You’ll likely want to call the FAA and ask them yourself! I can’t speak on what the govt wants people to do with foam toys. We have spoken with both the AMA, lawyers, and the FAA and are doing everything 100% legally and proper, for us, but everyone’s circumstances are different. If the govt expects us to abide by ever changing rules, they also need to be able to enforce them, somehow, as people are currently robbing other humans and hurting other humans while I type this reply to you, about the govt regulating foam toys. In ALL seriousness, they’ve created a horrible problem for themselves in a lot of ways. I really do encourage you to call and speak with them yourselves and take advantage of the “knowledge” they provide since our taxes are paying for it! Happy (and safe) flying! 👍🙏💯❤️⚓️

@@TheRcSaylors I have called and stated my opposition to the requirement. They were no help at all. I have been sticking to the sub 250 gram planes till I figure out the best way to add the smallest remote ID to a foam plane. I was really interested in this SUS RC but now seems like to much work to be able to fly it in my case. I'll just stick to my UMX planes and not use any of my larger planes. Yeah, this looks cool! Always neat to see what comes out. I started in the early 2000's with the Nitro planes. The nitro engines were always a pain in the butt lol. I just got back into RC flying and have the UMX Night Vapor, Sport Cub S2, UMX Timber X, NX8, ordered the Eratix. The technology has come a long way. I love RC Saylors and Brian Phillips is cool too. Love all your videos and all the great information and the morals you throw out there too 🥰

Thanks Kevin! That honestly means a lot to us, truly. You’ve got an amazing line up of planes, and I’m guessing the Timber X was your favorite plane to fly, now the Eratix will be your new favorite! 😁 If you’ve ever used our links in the past to order your stuff, our family Thanks You!! Keep flying my friend 👍😎⚓️

I fly a lot indoors during winter, and the erratix i got is a good in-between winter season and summer time. when its relatively calm 1-2 m/s its a good outdoor flyer, but as its a light flat foam its getting cought by the wind pretty fast. but its a hell of a sturdy plane and fuck me if its not the sturdiest FF ive got. hail satan and carry on brother! And btw, look in to sam harris thoughts on free will and morals. but for normal summer flight its not nearly the best.
