It is possible to teach yourself to fly. I did it myself with a slow flying glider (Gentle Lady) and a small hi start back in the early 90s. Nowadays there are good computer flight simulators to help with the learning process. And it helps a lot to have an experienced pilot to check out your model and help you. The Slow Ultra Stick looks like a very good model to learn on. 1) Get experienced help whenever possible. 2) Practice on a computer simulator with a similar model. 3) Have the patience to wait for a calm day. 4) Find an open place to fly with few or no obstructions, people or cars. One of the hardest things to learn is to control the plane when it is coming towards you. When the plane is flying away from you, moving the stick to the right makes the plane go to the right, etc. This is reversed when the plane is coming at you. I takes several weeks or a month or two to get the hang of this. A computer simulator would help with this a lot. A slow flying model, such as the above, gives the new pilot time to think. My 2 cents. Pete

It is so cool to see E-Flite re-release this little gem. I had 2 of them back when they were the Parkzone Ember. They make great indoor flyers....Addendum, this plane is actually much bigger than the Ember.

I didnt use throttlecut either until I bumped the throttle after switching battery on my 60 size Escapade, and it came rushing towards me at 3/4 throttle, and the prop made some nice marks on my transmitter as I just ,managed to get it out of the way. Luckily it just scratched my radio and not my hand, that would have been nasty,. So now I always set up throttle cut, and I have never activated it during flight. But for a light model like this I probably wouldnt bother either. Also, they used to nake a model called the Ember that was almost identical, perhaps a bit smaller.

if you cant get the rudder to turn even left or right, I would disconnect the push rods to the rudder and manually turn the rudder left and right direction by hand to lossen the foam hinge a bit. sometimes the foam out of the factory is to stiff. if you don't do that you might burn out the servo.!

Maybe if you disconnected the rudder push rod and worked the rudder back and forth to loosen it up? Probably stiff, since it's new. Love your videos!

It looks like the bigger balsa wood planes from when I was a kid in the 50’s. The little ones were .10¢ the bigger ones with the rubber band and propeller were .25¢ Nice

Waiting for 3 months for it to be shipped. It looks fun to fly in the back yard, which is why I ordered one. Agree it would have been better with 2S or 3S and ailerons. Not sure why ailerons couldn't have been added. It seems like that would have drastically changed how it flies. Like it's big brother. Have to say, the flexing pushrods are a concern. One more brace would have easily fixed that issue. Guess I'll find out when it finally arrives.

Great idea! Near the end of the video, I (Nate) tried this and it fell out of inverted flight almost instantly. Still a fun little plane, but the weight of the wheels and the dihedral kept me from remaining inverted more than a second or so. 💯😬😅⚓️

This has a so called undercambered wing, and they really want to fly upright, so inverted flight is really hard, especially since you dont have ailerons to counter the roll when the wing is trying to get back to upright position. But it is not impossible.

My question is when flying does this plane fly level without swooping. The left turn they should make a bracket mid way to fix the rod flex. Fix the flex better than the clip you found.

Banggood CAN be slow, but we’ve also gotten things pretty quickly from them. It greatly depends if you ordered your stuff out of the U.S. warehouse or the Chinese one. It sometimes lets you chose, and believe it or not, things can be cheaper out of the U.S. warehouse!!! Anyways, we’ve gotten things as fast as days, but have also had to wait nearly 4 weeks for things to arrive. Very dependent on slow boats over seas. Sorry you’ve had to wait longer than a reasonable time for your order. They really have gotten much better in their recent years about shipping. 👍😎💯⚓️

@@steventortora4487 Yes, I hear you... I do miss the RAGE RC Taylorcraft. I wish someone was still making that plane. The new planes are so much more capable, I think that aircraft without true three axis control are harder, and harder, to find. With flight stabilization beginners no longer need to step their way up through less capable aircraft. Perhaps it is not a bad thing to see this part of the Hobbie become more obscure.

please don't recommend not using throttle hold EVER again. There are too many injuries yearly from planes and helis from people doing stupid things or accidental things. Encouraging people to not use throttle hold for any plane is just a poor choice. Not what I expect from this channel. Have you ever seen anyone bitten by a prop or a heli blade? I have and it's not pretty and I had to take care of them in the ER.

Yes, of course use throttle hold but please listen to context and stop being so fast to jump down everyone’s throats. Do you realize there are channels out there literally flying over peoples houses promoting beginner airplanes? Tons of channels breaking line of sight daily… but you wanna criticize me for talking about the downsides to throttle hold on a brushed geared motor airplane with about the same strength as a rubber band plane? So what other channels do justifies you saying don't use throttle cut? Like I said in my reply to your comment on my comment a little propeller spins up on a kitchen table hits the edge and snaps and sends a chunk of the blade flying into somebody's eye at high speed that is very very dangerous and it's very necessary to use throttle cut on all models and that should be something ingrained and everybody in this Hobby even though you think it's just one of those goofy things I'd much rather lose an airplane than an eye a finger or a life. You said something to be quite Frank stupid and dangerous and you are going to keep defending yourself when it's obvious to a few of us it should not have been said no matter your feelings on it. @@TheRcSaylors I sure did, and I have to disagree with you as a lot of people who watch this channel are novice pilots and saying something like might make them think they don't need to set up throttle cut. Even with a small airplanes it can be dangerous to the person operating it and others around them that prop spins up on the kitchen table hits the edge and breaks sending part of it flying that could take someone's eye out. I've almost lost my dangly bits by my blade 230 s by not having throttle cut set and have a nasty scar on my inner thigh about a half inch away from Captain happy to prove it. Saying "throttle cut is just one of those goofy things" made me shake my head especially when you normally promote safety in all your videos so I found a little off color for you. I've seen some nasty accidents at the field due to guys not having throttle cut set and to be honest I'd much rather lose a model than a eye, finger or captain happy. Sorry for the rant but felt like it needed to be said.
