I gotta tell you George I appreciate this kind of unedited look into how you go about doing some stuff. Sometimes the desire to make stuff look clean or keep it moving along or presentable loses details. I like this candid view of farming.

Love the shots of the clods going through. Be good to see the difference with even a little of moisture in the ground. Nice bit of kit.

I like it!! But I'm waiting for anything better than a Ruben9 or even Ruben12 (we have rocky fields, so twin disk on single spring is a NO go here)(even though all these plates are all made in the same forge in France)(and I hate cutted-corner made rig anyway).... We just put brand new plates on my boss's Ruben9 2 weeks ago (as they last only about 3yrs around here) Can wait to work em out in a few weeks (it still maple-syrup season here) ;) edit: I use the ruben on non-plowed fields, sometimes two turns, and then ready to seed right after. But for you there on that field (seeing this already plowed etc....), I would ask to have one of those Australian Diamond rig that we even see coming around here. Simplest rig I've ever seen giving great results for seeding.

I'll admit this type of tillage seems a little different to me. It seems you guys plow wet ground in the spring then try like hell to break up the clumps left from plowing mud. I realize you are too far north to no till. you have to plow to warm up the seed bed for germination but, why don't you plow in the fall after harvest let it sit and have the clods break up from the winter weather and disc the field in the spring for seed bed prep and leveling. Maybe its cause our farm we are no tilling corn in april but it seems you guys burn a lot fuel and time when you don't necessarily need to. Just asking but isn't there a better way?
@grizzz68847 жыл бұрын
I agree with you,i am adding my question to your question, Why wouldn't you use a Cambridge Roller (or whatever you call it in Britain) at speed to break the clods, as that is what we used to do in NZ when we had a similar situation, or press wheels at ploughing. Thanks..looking forward to an answer
@alexveldhuis60047 жыл бұрын
Spring often too wet to work the land here in the UK. So often the landwork is done mostly in the Autumn, before it gets too wet. The clay is hard to work when dry, but really the only time to do so as when wet all you achieve is make a mess. Some no till is done here, but it is not that popular. Much less ploughing is done now compared to 20 years ago.
@technikaoborak25446 жыл бұрын
Well to me it looks like new harrow does not helped too much to break the soil clumps . Why not use rotarry harrow ?

Great footage of the blades doing their job! I have always wondered what went on between the rows, but valued my life enough not to ride on one!
@bryanplayfair1217 жыл бұрын
george you should show the footage to henery of the disc working if havent already
@joseph-ur2ks7 жыл бұрын
discs are better in soft damp clay lumps because it chops them up but with dry hard clumps i would say a power harrow is best cos it impacts the clumps and crushes them to make them crumble. a power harrow is best with a clod bar right behind like on the amazon ones then no large lumps get through on the surface
@technikaoborak25446 жыл бұрын
Exactly, why not use power rotarry harrow to break the soil? Or rollers, but these discs to me it looks like they did not do nothing to the soil, it i funny to me, buy new joker and go to the field - You change the soil by 5% :DDDDD

Whats the different between running disk/disking over the ground compared to running a cultivator over the ground ?. we have always ran the plough or the cultivator over our ground as it lifts up and turns over the soil. thanks

Yes the black farming dog.. I thought if they don't control that dog around the Cultivator it be a dead daisy dog! it kept sniffing under and around the back of the cultivator blades and really with a big machine like that you should have tied the dog up on a lead out of the way? yes it is a well trained dog, But it only take 1 second of her nipping under the back blades as you lower it out of view of you two lads and dead dog? And another thing, Why do the companies give these machines and cultivators etc. Such daft silly names? Better calling it a model number and a good name which is better than a joker? the bigger version of this I used in the FS15 game it was called the Tiger I think about 10 metres wide? What's next, call one of them a blue bunny? As for the soil and the lack of rain sir.. seems now ( 26th April in Kent will be wet with very cold nights and frosts ) So maybe you see the same too which shold help break down the ground?
