Brand New Kohler Toilet Leaking through the Porcelain!

Thank you! Thank you for this post! I bought the very same toilet and have had the exact same experience. I have reset it about 5 times now trying different flange seals. STILL LEAKS! I will NEVER buy another Kohler!!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. I just bought the same model Kohler toilet, and reseated it three times on a perfectly level surface with a wax ring. Strangely, I could pour buckets of water directly into the bowl without any leak, but each time I flushed from the attached tank I got a leak from the bottom of the toilet which seeped through the floor underneath & ruined the ceiling below. Looking at the bottom of the toilet I cannot find any crack or hole that would make the leak obvious. There are however strange looking holes and cracks in the conduit that routes the water from the tank into the bowl. These look like a manufacturing defect, and would allow water from the tank to get into the hollow space of the porcelain body of the toilet. I started to doubt myself, and was about to build a contraption like you did with the forklift to identify the source of the leak, but your video saved me the effort. This piece of s... is going back to the store. I am stuck with the cost of repairing the ceiling below. TY again.

Thanks for posting this. I thought I was losing it. I recently installed 3 of the Kohler Cimarron Rev 360 toilets in my house. One started leaking. I replaced the wax ring 3 more times looking for the leak and discovered that it's coming from underneath the bowl, not from the flange. Same issue, leaking through the porcelain. Kohler is replacing the toilet.

I just had 4 Kohler Elmbrook toilets installed this morning, it's now 10 pm. One of them is leaking from the porcelain tank, underneath the tank, at the outer edge. When I look under the tank I can see the light from the can light above the toilet in that too thin area of the tank! We're homebuilders, this is the first time this has ever happened to me. It's an actual weak or thin part in the porcelain of the tank. My wood floors were just refinished, and are now discolored from water standing on them since this morning. The water ran to the level below the entire day, now I have to repair the ceilings below and any mold that develops. I'm disgusted. I'll be calling Kohler in the morning to see what to do about my plumber having to come install another toilet, I know he won't come at no charge. I paid 340.00 per toilet install since our vacation home is an hour from the city. After seeing your video I'm now wondering if the bowl on any of these also might be leaking and I just don't know it yet, and our home and more of the wood floors might get damaged further. I just can't win, I give up with all this junk suppliers are making since the pandemic.

Yup! Just had my American Standard do that tonight. It was a single piece model leaking from underneath the tank. I thought I was crazy, but nope. I won't make that mistake again. I'll definitely check the replacement BEFORE installing it. Never found the fracture that was causing it, but it was definitely there.

Same exact fricken problem! Same place. Only took me two times figure it out! Mine was a Kohler Leeward.

Same thing happened to me. Leaky Cimarron Bowl K-31589-0 when flushed. After installing 4 times, I looked closer underneath, and could see a hairline crack. Kohler replaced, no hassle except for the frustration and time wasted.

Kohler brand reputation 'going down the toilet'. I've put half a dozen in and this was the only failure like this so I'd probably buy another, but I think I might *TEST* it first.

Had the same problem with a customer back in 2014. It was a Mexican sand color. Ended up replacing it 3 times, every bowl leaked underneath. It was the same model you have. JUNK.

Kohler Toilets are over priced garbage.!. My Mother has a Kohler and she has been having problems with it; I installed one in my master bath and it plugs up regularly, plus the water shut-off in the tank is now running continually, and on top of that - - - - - - - - the seat was broken when I went to install it. I installed a cheaper Glacier Bay toilet in the guest bath the same time as I installed this stinkin' Kohler toilet and it never had any problems plugging or running all of the time. Never Again.!. I'm pulling this overpriced piece of junk and smashing it, then I will be installing another brand.
