Oh wow , super nice crisp engine man , love it ! One day maybe! Hey what do you suggest I use to lube my air filter with ? That’s something I think about but never do on my ride because being me I would mess something up with the wrong stuff . Thank you for sharing with us .

Thanks Warren, we use K&N air filter oil, I think you can find a K&N cleaner & filter kit at Autozone or Kragens, it will turn the filters to a red color, I haven't yet found any filter oil that is clear or any other color.

When you break in a motor they say keep it above 2.000 rpm . The reason is to throw oil up to the cam ? On a VW how does that apply ! Back in the 60s the dealer said to go out as soon as you get it started and bog it in 3rd to set the rings and don't rev it up to high until you got 10,000 on it .

We've always run them in on the first start at about 2000-2300rpm for about 15 minutes so the oil pressure stays up and the top end gets plenty of lubrication, every mechanic may have a their own way, we like to keep them off the free-way for about 500 miles, city driving with stop lights, traffic, etc. gives you a chance to hear if something starts to sound funny or maybe smell an oil leak as appose to 65mph constant driving, you wont hear or smell anything during the shake down, these are old vehicles, they don't have computers to tell you when something is wrong.
