I have to say, the beauty and simplicity of their new layout has me considering TGTB over every other math curriculum I've looked at!

Having used it since September and almost coming to the end of it I can safely say we have all absolutely LOVED it. For me personally I have not found another curriculum like it. It’s genuinely a pleasure to teach from each day and I look forward to lessons every day. I am so glad they are also making changes to the language arts courses too!!

@@blossomschoolhouse6059 i love the stories and activities and games. kids understand that math is aplicable to life and also learn vocabulary from each of the stories and topics in each lesson. I will definitely continue using TGATB. I might purchase an activity book from evan moor to add exercises and daily practice

I SO want to love TGATB math.... I come back again & again, with a hopeful heart. May I ask you if the parental instructions on the workbook page itself ever feels clustered or busy? It really messes with my sense of simplicity for some reason; like the pages just feel very crammed. But also SO very beautiful! May I ask if your kiddos notice all of that extra writing on their work page and/or does it create any level of distraction?

Hey, I can totally understand you saying it’s a lot on the pages but personally we haven’t noticed the girls being distracted by the scripted parts at all before. But it would depend on the child, masterbooks is great for simplicity of layout and lessons, have you tried them?

@@blossomschoolhouse6059 I actually did give the Masterbooks program a go: I absolutely adored the storyline and how they wove that aspect into learning math, but I found the parental direction to teaching the concepts to be lackluster. If you can see me running the spectrum from too much to too little in our mathematical trials, welcome to the inside of my head (laugh to keep from crying LOL)!! I happen to be a person who is working through a LOT of personal fear, apprehension and a lack of confidence due to my own math experiences from the past.... so finding a curricula guide to lean on in order to bridge the information to my children is the equivalent of a very trusty steed.... or maybe more like a white unicorn. It has become obvious that the program has to sit real, real well with me in order to extend that to my girls. I am starting Teaching Textbooks this year with my eldest, in hopes that having 'a teacher' in our day to day lives might help us both. For my youngest, I am giving Kate Snows 'Math With Confidence' a go.... but I still go back and scroll through the pages of TGATB and I still look up reviews on it.... I just don't think it's a good fit, but goodness do I wish it was. All of this to say: thank you for your response and for hearing me. The math portion of our homeschool is by far the most challenging aspect; I appreciate and value the conversation very much.

I'm doing math 2 with my daughter now; I'd say it's extremely simple to follow and carry out. My daughter adores her math lesson and the games and different approaches to the work. It's actually a lot of fun, my worry is always that it's too gentle, but I know that the constant review solidifies the concepts without having to give a small child an hour of busy work. I'd say it's an awesome program for anyone, including a teacher who especially fears teaching math.

It was roughly £50 for the course book and the math box but you can download the whole course book for free and print yourself. There’s also tips for creating your own math box on their website 💛
