“The Dane” is AMAZING. I keep the boost on all the time just to add articulation to my lightly driven amplifier. I switch between using The Dane’s overdrive and an Archer for overdrive, depending on the flavor that suits my current mood. I’m stoked about this new pedal, even though I already “own half of it.”
@MWallis24 жыл бұрын
Having owned both pedals, I think my dream pedal would be the OD side of The Dane and the Ge boost from the Heavy Water. You could call it The Heavy Dane, or Watered Dane, or Danish Water. Though, Danish Water sounds like an overpriced spring water that Californian hipsters love but it is actually just bottled tap water from some crappy border town like Detroit.

Do you still use these two? I have Peacekeeper. I'm trying to decide if I should add Heavy Water with my Peacekeeper or just get a Dane MK II.
@stefankarlssonice10 ай бұрын
@@martyjones2679 Indeed I still use that dynamic duo - it's far more versatile than the new Dane that I also have. It kind of depends on your guitar to a large degree - I'm mostly humbuckers - so Peacekeeper + Heavy Water is much better for that - the Dane sounds OK for humbuckers - but it's really optimised for single coils and Teles in particular!
@martyjones267910 ай бұрын
@@stefankarlssonice Thank you for your response. That's good to know. I'm going to try the new Dane MKII because it really sounds great from what I hear. My Peacekeeper isn't going anywhere so I might try Heavy Water next. I use both Fenders and LP so I'll just have to try them all and see what I like. I love the Peacekeeper so I'm very interested in your combo. Thanks! Great suggestion!

I just finished building one of these from scratch (using lots of funky old “mojo” components) and it sounds killer. Unfortunately it is nighttime here in Hawaii so I have to wait until morning to give it some volume. This video both appeased my need to hear it pushed while simultaneously making me want to plug in and awaken the entire neighborhood. 😎 Nice, simple yet elegant boost circuit with room to experiment (using sockets for IC and diodes). Thanks as always, Pete, for the fun demo. Sounds great (and mine may actually sound a bit fuller, thicker, and rounder when that low pot is cranked. I got lucky with this build, I suppose 🤷♂️). Aloha 🤙🎛🎸📻🔊✨

I don't see why you can't say Head Room. You're basically adding to the Amp when you plug any pedal in so I can't see the science preventing that term from being used. Becuase Head Room was exactly what I thought of once you hit that button and while I am not a sound engineer, the effect was exactly the same. Why would the name change because the circuit is external from the Amp?
@gerryjamesedwards12275 жыл бұрын
You can't add to an amp's headroom with a pedal. If the pedal is increasing the signal it is decreasing the headroom of the amp, because it is pushing it closer to break-up. You should look up Colin's, from CS Guitars YT channel, explanation of headroom in guitar amps and you'll understand why it's not the right term to use in this case.
