Well, consider what would happen if the Golf HOF kicked out anyone who wasn't a PGA Tour member during his or her career? Say goodbye to Bobby Jones, Harry Vardon, Francis Ouimet, Old and Young Tom Morris, Glenna Collette Vare, and a boatload of others. Hey, dummy! It's a GOLF HOF, not a PGA Tour HOF and who made you an arbiter for this? But, I have an idea. How about a bare knuckles bout between Brandel Chamblee and Brooks Koepka to settle the matter? If Brandel wins, all non PGA Tour members are excluded from the HOF. But, if Brooks wins, Brandel will have to stop making stupid opinions public on the Golf Channel (in addition to getting implants to replace his now missing teeth.) Then again, if he stops making stupid statements, he would be virtually silenced so he probably won't go for it. Well, I can dream...

"Forty years ago, it was considered by some a risky move for the guys who play professional golf to break away from the group created for golf professionals." This was about the PGA Tour splitting from The PGA of America in 1969. "The golf breakup occurred largely because of the influx of money that television had started to pump into the game. The top players (Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer among them) wanted to use the additional TV money to pump up the purses." "The PGA of America wanted to put the money in the general fund. That's when the compromise was reached, with the golf professionals and the professional golfers going their separate ways." Sounds a bit like today... The PGA tour categorized itself as a non profit so it could avoid hundreds of millions in tax revenue. That decision is now haunting them since it also means they can't hand out guaranteed money contracts like other professional sports.The LIV tour is doing exactly that so it's not surprising top level golfers want guaranteed money. If someone loses their PGA tour card they're gone with very little support. I don't see how you can treat people as independent contractors and then complain when they go elsewhere.

Yep, they need to drop that tax scheme that gives Monahan almost 9 mil. a year. He would rate as the 2nd highest paid golfer if he were on tour. Golfers see that and say something doesn't add up especially when PGA hides behind all the charity crap.

The PGA Tour is going to be the loser on this unless they pull their head out and work together with this new league. I heard a commentator say yesterday that they should give LIV the fall season and take back all suspensions. Sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world to admit you made a mistake and go a different direction. Most people respect that. Just like television created the PGA Tour in the 60s, the internet has created the LIV tour today. The PGA tour needs to wake up and work with this new tour. Otherwise, pro golf is in big trouble. I'm tired of hearing about loyalty. I am and have been loyal to a fault to my employers and it's been made clear to me that loyalty is no longer a two way street. Really no one is loyal anymore, except for hopefully family and friends. The Tour is not loyal to its members. They should not expect the players to be loyal to them. The tour is acting foolish. Having said that, Greg Normal is a coward. It's sad. I've lost a lot of respect for him.

It is quite common for independent contractors to have work restrictions while they are working for their "contractor" and also for a year or two after their job ends (depending on the circumstances - unless they live in a liberal anti-business state like California that prohibits enforcement of such a restrictive covenant. Also, the players are tour members that aside from agreeing to contractual restrictions , they are aside from being an independent contractor, they are also your members that agreed to and are technically part of the rule making process. Restrictive work covenants (depending on circumstances) are quite common in independent contractor relationships. Coming from Mr. Morality himself (on his second wife), I don’t think many look to you for a moral compass…you sound a like those people saying we need to go back to the way things were back in the 40s and 50s when we were great. You know, segregation, women ignored…the good old days…competition is always good. It may cause short term turmoil, but if the PGA Tour truly is the better product, it will win out.

Someone needs to ask the current Mrs. Chamblee, Bailey Mosier of the Golf Channel, if Brandel is always so concerned about similar abstract morality in his home life. Like, how often does he visit his kids he had with the wife he dumped and how much child support does he pay? Then, I might give his opinions some credence or, he may be proven to be a hypocrite.

This is, essentially, what Mickelson said a few months back about the LIV, how it could apply leverage for golfers against the PGA Tour which, in his op[inion, was keeping for itself too much of its revenue and not sharing it with the Tour members. When the rest of the non-star Tour players realize this, the Tour will need to change.

So like Brandel, you do not watch the NBA, NFL or MLB. Nor do you go to any of those games live right? Because I’m sure you know that those other sports do business with China and I’m sure given your stance you would never support, directly or indirectly, those other organizations since they take “blood money” from China. Also, I’m sure Brandel has spoken to each player to get an in-depth viewpoint of all the personal details and dynamics surrounding each decision, including the influence and desires of spouses, kids, financial advisers, in-laws and spiritual leaders. Your POSITIVE that there isn’t any underlying physical or mental issues involved as well. In addition, I’m quite sure that if you were making a $100K per year but someone associated with the Saudis offered you a three year contract for $450K per year, you would just turn it down! The OBVIOUS point is that those that criticize players that left are HYPOCRITES!

@Diogenes-ty9yy 2 жыл бұрын
@@joseph-ignaceguillotin2523 On the PGA Tour, yes, making the cut is important and kudos to Tiger for the 142. But, he's the exception, not the rule. Making money for yourself and your family is of the utmost importance for any worker or any golfer. If the golfer is skilled enough, he makes the cut and cashes a check. But, what if he's cut? He has to eat the week's expenses and hope he makes the next one. If the PGA Tour simply covered expenses for those who didn't make the cut, it would be a win-win for the Tour and the player. But, since the Tour does not, if the LIV offers guaranteed money and it's a financial "sure thing." If a golfer can swallow his pride and take the "sure thing" he and his family would be financially secure and he would need to balance that against his pride or ego and the "maybe" money of the PGA Tour.

Brandie Is a PGA and golf channel hack. His wife also works for the GC, thus he tows the line for both. Here are some facts if we are talking about legacy. Augusta National probably the best of all Golf majors, here is their legacy. First black golfer to be aloud to play . 1975 Lee Elder First white caddy allowed to caddy 1983 First black member, Ron Townsend 1990 Where is Brandie complaining about these milestones. He played Augusta while these barriers were in place. Does this make him a bigot? Does he owe everyone an apology for not standing up for blacks? He had about as much control over what Augusta did and didn't do. Just like any player in LIV Golf has any control over Saudi Arabia. The funny thing is, if they are so sure it's going to fail, why are they so adamant it's going to fail. Just sit back and watch. Instead they know what the PGA and golf channel are afraid of is they are being exposed as hypocrites and liars for masking the truth that's starting to come out. Brandie was a average golfer that won 1 tournament with a empty field. That's it, what makes him a expert on anything? Go back and listen to him try and destroy Tiger, tell you how washed up he was, what a morale failure he was. He believes in kicking people when their down. He has no balls or backbone to stand for anything. Jack & Arnie did the same thing back in The 60's when they split from the PGAA. Everyone said they were money grabbers and they were going to ruin pro golf. Both these claims were proven wrong and thus the PGA is what it is today. If the LIV offered him 100 million to come on board he wouldn't hesitate. He's been a POS for years and as his use comes to an end, he's trying to somehow hold on.

The PGA has given an opportunity to professional golfers to make a performance driven opportunity to earn money by their play and they were position to get endorsements by their play. So the top 100 players + have made millions of $. The PGA is willing to let golfers go but don’t return. The money is coming from a country that murders people. These players are just doing a money grab. Golfers are supposed to be true gentleman and sportsman.

Well, theoretically, if a golfer was a "true gentleman and sportsman", like Bobby Jones, he would also remain an amateur like Bobby Jones. "Amateur" is from the Latin verb amare, amavit, amatus, meaning "love" and an "amateur" is one who plays for the love of the game itself. But, to be a pro, your agree to play for a monetary reward and, IMO, all dollars are green, no matter whence they came. The PGA Tour has a tournament in Dubai run by the people who run the LIV and Jack Nicklaus is building a new course in Saudi Arabia: is anyone in moral high dudgeon if the Saudi money for those is "dirty" or "blood money"? The way the PGA Tour is set up, outstanding play has an outstanding monetary reward and "history " and "legacy." But, for the pro past his star peak (Westwood, Mickelson, Garcia, et al.) guaranteed money is something they really can't afford to pass up. And, Dustin Johnson and De Chambeau? Over $100 million up front means they can relax for the rest of their lives. IMO, there needs to be a peaceful coexistence between the PGA Tour and the LIV and I can only hope cooler management heads will prevail.

Anyone that thinks LIV is okay just has no concept of COMPETITION. In any other golf tour, the players must play well enough to make the cutline. Or they go home. No money that week, although it cost them money to play. So that makes players earn their pay. Competition. And that competition is what sharpens the players, makes him hone his game. Get good or go broke. In this LIV golf farce, there's no cut. Guaranteed money. ZERO COMPETITION. So LIV golf sucks... I really hope the governing bodies (R&A, USGA, Augusta etc...) follow through and remove World Ranking points from the shills that are playing LIV exhibitions...
