I was shocked to see the cost of the bulb is peanuts. I held dealers change 1500 to fix it. Thank you for the video.

Good video. One correction to note though. At about 4:35 in the video you state the rear of the bulb housing is the ballast. The ballast is actual bolted to the bottom of the headlight housing. It is the large flat looking metal piece on the bottom of the housing. Thanks.
@mbalunovic2 жыл бұрын
strictly speaking from technical standpoint (electrical) the ballast is what is in hid world referred to as "igniter", it creates a huge spike of voltage to ignite the bulb (part of d1, d3 etc bulbs, part of ballast on d2, d4 etc, or sometimes an independent unit). The part called the ballast by hid is an inverter unit in electrical part :)

thanks, my car give me a warning just last night that one of my lights malfunction. I see me doing this soon. I also see we all seem to have that glue problem in the instrument cluster. As this video was 2 years ago, hopefully you have a video on that too.

I ended up doing the infotainment upgrade for the screens
@michaelflash6457 Жыл бұрын
@@brandenflasch that upgrades includes both screens? Hmmm something to consider. Thanks. I have a 2015 P85, I wasn't sure if 2k for the new screen was worth it, but if its both, maybe that's the way to go.

Great Video. Thank you. If you can post info about front rattling noise that would be really appreciated. I replaced the left Suspension Sway bar but didn't fix the problem (just a little) . I guess next step will be to replace the Suspension lower control Arm for my MS 2014. Thanks.

I'm watching this video while doing this replacement right now but I can't get the new bulb to go back in I'll probably figure it out before anyone replied but just a heads up for anyone doing this in the future it's a pain to get the bulb put back in definitely practice with the old one first so u don't damage the new one.
@brandenflasch3 жыл бұрын
It’s not the easiest thing - just have to align properly and you’ll get it.
@DanishAjanee3 жыл бұрын
@@brandenflasch thanks for replying so quickly. I just figured out what was wrong. The cable that powers the light was getting in the way and wouldn't let me push the light in I had to stick my hand in and hold it out of the way.

@@brandenflasch also thank you so much for making this tutorial. You saved me the hundreds of dollars that Tesla would have taken. I didn't have time to do the other side today but I took off one of the panels under the frunk and it seems that I can access the bulb through there. I'll try it next weekend when I do the other side.

Great video. At the beginning of your video you said you replaced the right bulb without removing the headlight.? Did you mean without removing the tire? I was told by a Tesla mobile Repair guy, you could replace the headlamp without removing the tire. He explained it, sounded much easier to do it from top of the Frunk rather than removing Tire going underneath. I cannot find any information how to do that on KZbin or Tesla forums. Can you help ? tesla wanted $3,000, no s*** ,they said they needed to replace bulbs both sides! Any ideas have you ever heard of this?

Great job! You didnt pull the entire fender liner out like most tesla techs do. Cheers!🍻 Maybe consider becoming a Tesla service tech. They pay well with great benefits.

I see your tesla had a d3s bulb. is it a pre facelift or post ? as pre models came originally with d8s , a 25W, and not a 35W like d1s and d3s.

Excellent video, Branden! That is definitely something that I've never seen installed before. Have you changed out your lead acid battery yet? There is a German man in the Greater Phoenix area that rents out his Teslas and he has an early Model S that took a lot of disassembly to get that battery out. He had the Ohmu guy do it for him.
