I'm a sucker for hard-tech industrial typography, I mean Eurostile/Microgramma is such a classic to me, but I'd love to learn how to properly work with serif fonts someday. If it's any consolation, the only fonts I ever see on the factory floor at work is Arial, Courier New, TNR on the really old documents, and in rare cases TNR that has been photocopied so many times that it looks like Courier New. It's why I got into typography, the industrial world has brilliantly smart people who don't give a rip about typography. "This page is important, so I'll make the entire thing Bold. There, job done."

This makes me think you should do a review of the logos & branding for the “Big Ten” AAA Prime Megacorporations from the cyberpunk TTRPG Shadowrun. IMO they are better than a lot of fictional brands, but not *great* and with a lot of *aggressively* 80s and 90s cliches that work towards the settings’ cyberpunk aesthetics, but some running counter to their stated-in-lore brand image. So lots of good and bad to analyze.

This is actually a good world building idea for me, building an evil mega corpo enemy for my post modern game project. In game, it would be a satirical kind of evil mega corp, with sinister in-universe soft toned marketing through the TV commercials, billboards, news tablets and in-game internet (or rather DeepNet) Several people defected and established a movement to fight against the evil mega corp, but the rebellion has resulted in a few bloodbath incident. Under their mission to "enlighten mankind in information highway", using their networking platform, the evil megacorp successfully censored out any "misinformations" about past rebel incidents and failed attempts at rescuing child workers. Wait, this is somehow similar to Metal Gear Solid 2's plot....

This video caused me to realize that the Abestergo logo is basically the Ubisoft logo but pointy (it's also the logo for their game engine, part of a long running joke that has become less funny now that we know more about the working conditions at Ubisoft). I am curious now how their logo compares to 1930s chemical and pharmaceutical companies, as that's the context is was created within in-universe. They've gone from being Abestergo Chemicals to Abestergo Pharmaceuticals, and then Abestergo Industries when they diverfied with departments like Abestergo Entertainment. But the logo has been the same ever since it was created to better facilitate Templar support for the Nazis. (Abestergo being a Nazi collaborator is pressumably public knowledge, given the state all the other irl companies that did the same thing are in today)

My brand Freedom Smiles is selling highly breathable fishnet masks for people who are forced to comply with tyrannical government regulations. What would be the best colors and font for our logo? A lot of our competitors are using red, white, and blue and Times New Roman, and we want to be visually distinct to the discerning virology skeptical consumer.
@Mr_Yeah2 жыл бұрын
IMHO your brand is all about connecting your customers to nature and removing all the barriers. Your corporate colors should be pastel green and blue. Giving the natural blank white state just a little personal touch is the message you want to deliver. One suggestion from me for an icon is two big green leaves pointing up and angled to each other like a flower opened up to the sun. Between the leaves is the wind icon known from weather forecasts in blue pointing up. The whole icon should look like an exotic flower that awes everyone. The wind icon should be lines and curves only. And the leaves should also be filled with streaks only, so the whole logo should look breathable and drawn like in a Zen garden. Speaking of which: I'm not a font expert, so I can't give you explicit fonts. But the corporate name should be in a font that even allows someone on a lonely island with a stick to write it perfectly on the sand. All in all, a corporate identity connected to nature and wind, replicable by even the dumbest people on Earth, so your CI becomes a viral hit.

A fun idea as a quick fix is to just push your old business to the background, and run a front with these new tricks, avoid the expenses of uninstalling when you can just bury your mistakes, try for instance 'Darmagon Industries' which definitely wasnt copied from Lego Ninjago, its so generic people start getting invested with simply the question 'what is this', its perfect for being pushed to the smallest font in the bottom of a website in the bottom of a website in the bottom of your main website where you have a real evil corporation. Better yet, fold all references into some dusty archive in a basement which definitely isnt conveniently miswired to combust with the push of a button in the main office of the intermediate building
