IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: This bill is being passed in the United States, but can effect ALL artists. There's 2 things to consider: (1) This is NOT based on where an artist lives, but where the fans consume the streams occur. (2) That means that because we are in a global economy and most streaming platforms are global, an artist can be in Europe and have fans consuming their music in the U.S. So those streams would fall under the mandate. And to be even more clear, countries ALREADY have different payout rates. This is nothing new. The U.S. already pays more than other countries. They are just raising the number even more (if this passes)

This may have something to do with the new payout structure Spotify introduced. Spot on timing. Possibly cut about a billion streams from artists streaming under 1000k streams. Right before the 1 cent bill is passed.

Future royalties are why streaming are perfect for artists. At one point we didn’t have the option monetize our Music for future revenue. We were only able to get the now sale, and now we can get Sales forever on the same songs. Real business people understand this and that’s why record labels will spend so much money on buying masters. A lot of artists don’t get this.

There is 3600 seconds in an hour, that divided by .30 seconds equals, 120 times within an hour you can get your song streamed to be eligible for pay. Consumers won't mind if they got to pay more, look what they did with the cheeseburger or a pack of cigarettes. Half the consumers with double pay cost equals happy artist. Same exact thing if u get half the consumers with double the price. Makes sense. Artist will win from this. Consumers will finely tune their senses into better streaming. Another tip I can give for artist is try to get radio plays bcuz 1mil plays on radio equals 80k dollars instead of 5k for 1mil regular streamers. Artist will finally win from this 😊

(1) It's not true that you currently get paid exactly .003 per stream. Quick Google's will give you a range, at best..but the reality is they don't pay the same for premium user streams vs free user streams. They don't pay the same per country AND on top of that it's still a pooled system. (2) I clearly said that half a cent is to be simply in the video and cite the .003-.005 range.

I watched them subtract my numbers. Also Spotify kept taking listeners away from me and I made 56 albums, they left me with 7 followers, so I eventually i bought their plan for 40.00 a month. I hope yall realize they won't let your music be heard unless u buy into 1 of their plans for monthly 40.00 and up plan.

That's y they need the bill for artist to make 40.00 a day for listening to their own tracks for 4 hrs a day. That bill won't fix anything because spotify and youtube will simply move the comma to the right 3 more places until ur 3k views projects as 3 views.
