I don't mean to pour my heart out here, but Brandon literally changed my life. 2019 through 2021 was a really hard time for me, and I went down a really dark path. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, and I grew to become an anti-gun socialist. As I progressed through middle school, I saw that people who claimed to love and support everyone and their opinions suddenly pushed back with aggression & hatred I hadn't seen before. I guess I started to lose faith in the country. I had always thought guns were cool and stuff, so I eventually came across the AK guy. His knowledge and expertise really brought light to issues I didn't even know existed, and recently, hearing that this man, a normal, everyday American with opinions and respectability that he bothers to share with the world, one that had such an effect on my outlook was running for congress-- boy I wish I could vote. And I haven't just seen this with me, many of my peers are starting to open their eyes and realize some of the bullshit being spewed by the ATF and anti-2A 'activists'. Thank you, Brandon, for being a light of hope for Constitutionalism. The things that make the United States the country we love.

I wish for a civil debate when I say this but I understand having, maybe, a pistol, revolver, single-shot carbine/muzzleloader, but what situation calls for a Maxim machine gun, an RPG-7, an AA-12, or really any form of high-powered, and/or, automatic weaponry? as for those "over-the-top, and unnecessary" weapons, I'm not saying to get rid of them, I'm thinking more in line with banning the sale or redistribution of them and associated ammunition and parts, not necessarily the ownership of them. As for the more reasonable weapons, maybe we have compulsory licenses (done to high standards), a lengthy mental and criminal check, and an extremely heavy tax (talking 30 to 50%) but if we wish to forgo that, then do what Switzerland does and only allow those who have done military service for some length of time to own a firearm. (more people in the army i guess...) This is coming from an Australian, where we just flat-out banned guns after 1 bad mass shooting. not to mention cultural differences between gun ownership (as an Aussie I can say NO ONE here even wants a gun)

I'm saying you should ban large caliber weapons, automatic weapons, explosive weapons - weapons that would cause more damage than they would prevent - a pistol is 100% fine for home defense, but an AA-12 with a 20-round drum mag of buckshot isn't. as for your concern about gun violence, while 100% understandable and valid, you need not be afraid, for example, in my home country of Australia, we banned guns in 1996, and nearly 30 years since then there have only been 2 mass shootings, in the USA, you've had 543 mass shootings in 2023 alone. restricting gun ownership, or banning it outright, works.

Parenting has gotten a lot worse, as a daycare provider I have seen first hand the decay of parenting values creating entitled children, and when you have a lot of these kids growing up in broken homes, they grow into broken adults. With how bad our society is, that only makes the mental health of already unhinged people worse. Add that to a media that pushes for division at every opportunity and mass shootings are inevitable. Believe me, if Australia had the same societal issues as america, you would have a lot more shootings there. We have these guns to protect ourselves from not only outside threats, but so that the government knows better than to try to get rid of our rights (think freedom of speech or even some of the later amendments such as 13 through 15). I've heard things about Australia's government that the Americans would never tolerate in a million years. We're a bit of an ungovernable bunch over here :3 As for large caliber weapons, nobody is using a maxim machine gun, an RPG or an AA-12 for mass shootings. Those are a lot harder to access than the handguns and other types of guns that are used in these types of shootings. Also pretty sure most of those guns are already not even legal for the average citizen to own, Brandon is a different case and not the norm.

​@@alecrutz956 I agree with this a lot, especially the first point. it's more than just guns, it is mental health, and it's childhood, it's so much more. we had a stabbing a few months ago and rather than give the police more money or bring back guns we pumped millions into our public health service to pick up the slack it had on mental health. and yes, there is a cultural difference. lastly, thanks for pointing out that Brandon is the exception here. I still think automatic firearms may be a stretch (you logically only need 1 or 2 hits to stop a man) but, yes, not every has an AA-12
