Canadian American actor Brandon Jay McLaren is well known for his extensive work portraying a diverse range of characters on both the big and small screen. Notable television credits include fan favorite 'Xavier Watkins' on the comedy/action series Turner & Hooch, Disney+'s reboot of the classic 1989 buddy-cop film, the ABC action series The Rookie, alongside Nathan Fillion, and as 'Buckley' on season five of the acclaimed FX series Snowfall, created by Dave Andron, Eric Amadio and John Singleton.
From 2013 through 2015, McLaren starred as undercover agent 'Dale Jakes' on the USA drama series Graceland, for which he won a Best Actor Golden Maple Award in 2015. Other television credits include recurring roles on Chicago Fire (NBC), Slasher (Chiller Network), Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (Bravo), Falling Skies (TNT), Harper's Island (CBS) and The Killing (AMC), for which he was nominated for a 2012 Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series

I love hearing actors talk about the Power Rangers stigma. It’s so interesting that the actors really didn’t have any work after until…Lost Galaxy-ish (7th season in 1999). Brandon Jay or Mr. Stays Booked as I like to call him, he’s been working CONSISTENTLY since his season. The first place I saw Brandon in was the college show The Best Years on The N and then I went back to watch his season of PR SPD and I watched him on the USA show Graceland.

Yeah the stigma for PR was definitely real for certain actors but I remember seeing Walter ( the black ranger) in shows like space case,moesha and Bink. But you are correct like after Lost Galaxy and even lightspeed rescue is where ranger actors were able to get more acting gigs and roles. But the stigma was definitely cause of PR being non union which we can blame sabans greediness

It's suprising to learn he was 25 when he did SPD. Usually they cast younger people for these roles, like most of the first couple of seasons were casting people who were barely 18 and just a little under 23. Also he has a commendable attitude towards acting and that's probably what has led to most of his success. Doing bit parts and kids tv and still carving a nice long career afterwards is something very few people can do.

Disney surprisingly did a great job with Power Rangers when they acquired it. They mirrored the Japanese version proper by getting new actors for each team. That gave some up and coming actors opportunities to be in the well honored franchise. To be a Power Ranger is something entire generations of kids wanted to be a part of. You'll always have fans no doubt, much like Star Trek or Star Wars actors do. SPD was the GOAT for me.

The second greatest season in my opinion and my fourth favorite season. I didn’t watch it when it came out because like I said, I was far past the show by 09 but I went back and gave it a chance last year. It’s worth it bro. I promise you.

Loved this guy and Sunjata in Graceland! That was my fave show when it was around. Before that, I hadn't seen him in any major roles, and I was pleasantly surprised because he and the rest of the cast did a GREAT job! Whenever he or Sunjata were on screen were my favorite moments. Also Manny killed it as well! So I would say he, Sunjata, and Manny were my fave actors on that series! It's incredible watching him in other series as well. The Ranger curse was real, and I am glad it didn't get him because he is a special talent.
