Brandon is officially a Magic content creator! Welcome to the community
@jonathansnow214 ай бұрын
Brandon truly loves MTG. To the best of my knowledge, he became an official mtg content creator in 2018 with the publication of Children of the Nameless and the creation of the Davriel Planeswalker.
@sburbtube67664 ай бұрын
He literally wrote an official MTG novel. Too bad Wizards broke his trust and agreement and deleted the free version of the book from their website. Because of that backstabbing we might never see another MTG book written by Brandon.

I attended a Return to Ravnica draft at a local game store where Brandon was signing books and playing against people between rounds. I did a clean sweep 3-0 in the event (thanks Pack Rat) but ultimately lost my match against Brandon, largely due to my own Havoc Festival. It was a fun night and I got some books signed.

What is happening. Brandon Sanderson is the third KZbin channel (after Kira and Moist) that I follow that is suddenly releasing Magic the Gathering content right now. Is there a Magic boom happening that I wasn't aware of? I know it's not a new interest for any of them, especially Sanderson has been massively into Magic for a long time. But it seems hardcore MTG content is normal now. Which is fascinating. And quite cool actually.
@jonathansnow214 ай бұрын
You're spot on that Brandon, especially, has been into mtg for a long, long time. If I had to guess why the uptick now? I'd guess Universes Beyond for all creators (extending their reach into other IPs). In addition, for Brandon specifically, he's making larger plays now after his record setting kickstarter. My guess is he's setting the stage for his own universes beyond content as well as more expanded media, outside his novels.

Love this crossover of my interests. Also, to add to the GRRM conversation, I met him at C2E2 2010 just walking around the convention floor. This was before he became a truly household name, but as a huge fan of both ASOIAF and Wild Cards, I recognized him immediately. He was kind enough to stop and converse with a fanboy for almost ten minutes as we discussed how hard it was to find the early Wild Card books and how much I loved his books. Great memory of my little hipster moment of "I met GRRM before he was 'cool'."
