Does investing in stocks affect yearly tax returns or otherwise negatively impact tax returns? If I do invest in stocks do I have to change how frequently I file my taxes (yearly, quarterly, bImonthly ETC)?

Only when you sold your stock, it's called unrealized gain if your stock goes up but you have yet to sale it. The inverse hold true. So you don't need to file anything different if you haven't sold. If your stock decline you can file it as a loss but Im not sure how much

Ive heard a lot of people use it save for a down payment. I don’t see why not. You’re simply not getting taxed on the interest earned in that account. As long as you stay under your limit. The RRSP is also good for the down payment because of the home buyers plan.

i have a question on how exactly does the incomes get calculated? Like for example, you invest 10$ in a company stock, so what do you earn in return and after how long? like for example, you would earn 1$ of benefit after one week. And also, can you leave that stock anytime you want? like for example you earned 500$ over 5 years with company A, can you now leave this company and your investment ?
@csistok4 жыл бұрын
That's not how stocks work. You don't earn benefits, you own shares in a company and you can either make money or lose money depending on the value of the stock when you bought it and the value of the stock when you sell it. If you buy a share for $10 and you sell it a week later but no one wants to buy it for more than $9, then you lose $1. But if you hold that share for 5 years before selling it and it's value goes up to $15 then you make a $5 profit. If the company goes belly up and your share becomes worthless then you lose $10. Here's a video that helps to explain basically how the stock market works: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmirfKmnh66SeNE
