Hi, but what about the interaction terms? In some studies, it is first checked for the interaction terms. Depending on that they are either compares slope or intercept.

So the Ancova adjusted the Covariance of GPA to a uniform level of 2.9, and the method of achieving this is the same as matched pair t test?

In your example you had 3 groups with equal sample size and assumed normal distribution. does ANCOVA still work if the sample sizes in each group is different and data is not distributed? in other words, is there a non-parametric version of ANCOVA? How can an r square value be negative?

R squared alone cant be negative. However Adjusted R squared can be negative because, it is different calculation. And Adjusted R squared will always be less than or equal to R sq. So when you have R sq close to zero, adjustation can go negative. You dont have to bother with reasons why if dont want, only thing you need to know about this is that if adjusted R sq is close to non-adjusted R sq. it is good! And when its a lot lower, something can be wrong with your chosen variables.
