I’m empathize. I was born in Canada andI have passport privilege BUT my parents came as STUDENTS in the 70s. My father came on a university scholarship and didn’t choose come to Canada from the Gold Coast based on a claim of refugee status from the Bi-Afran war.- as a Ghanaian he probably could have made an asylum claim. My mother came from Sierra Leone with a teaching certificate on a family visa to complete an accounting degree. She had to demonstrate that her sister and brother law could support her for the length of her studies. My mom was out on her own and working legally within 60 days and was able to support my dad through dental school. Point is, they both were vetted for skills that merited migration and no expectation for the government to bear the financial burden of repatriation. Skills and education allow immigrants to contribute to the country to which they want tobecome citizens. Rising deportation rates suggest a high rate of frivolous claims to refugee status. Canada CBP needs to make major reform honestly. Most other countries don’t ever land travellers with unsubstantiated claims of persecution in the home country. If the UK doesn’t belief your claim you’re sent back in the next available flight. “I have some problems in my home country “ isn’t compelling. “Things are really bad in my country” doesn’t cut it with an immigration officer. It’s not fair on authentic asylum seekers that arrive at a port of entry.

There is another side that many of the people coming here are not sharing. They have expectations /demands that services in the non profit sector cannot give. As a person in the field of social services for 15 years I have never seen such a level of entitlement and disregard for the limitation of front line services. Many of the people coming here flat out refused services then complain no one is helping them. Social serviced have limitations, what part of that dont people understand?

Just a thought for a place for these people to live in nothern ontario and they can live and work at fly in fish camps and hunt camps and work there. Also alot of small towns in nothern ontario have empty homes from people moving they can live in.. there are all kinds of small towns through out canada they canada live in. Furthermore there are places and jobs for them in the northwest territory where they can get jobs in mine sites where they live there eat there work and sleep there for 2 weeks in cleaning cooking or security and 2 weeks out I have seen this first hand as 7000 people from all.over the world that chose to come to Canada went up there as a refugee and got temporary work visa and then eventually got their permanent residence.. Refugess need to look at not just coming to big cities such as Toronto ottawa Calgary Vancouver.. There are homes and jobs in small town Manitoba or small town nothern ontario or east coast as well as Nunavut. Go up to the north like alot of people who came into the country as refugees did in the northwest territory.. Just my thought

I have seen KZbin videos from South Asian countries,encouraging people to move to Canada 🇨🇦. Care giver jobs etc are available it seems. Then there are jobs for Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 people for jobs in agriculture and caregivers in Israel. People who are already employed in countries like Canada, South Korea, Israel, the U.K., Australia,New Zealand etc are encouraging people to apply to these countries by making videos, explaining the situations in the host countries. They encourage them to come legally for jobs and studies. I understand that the South Asians are not refugees or asylum seekers. I can’t understand why the Africans are on the streets in Toronto. They found cash paying jobs in construction and shared a room with others but it’s still better than living on the streets. I understand respecting someone's culture, but when you immigrate to a new country, some effort must be made to adjust to the culture of the destination country. Being; homeless, indebted, impoverished, and hungry is just part of the Canadian experience. If you want to sleep indoors and eat food then there are plenty of countries in the world where you can do that. Effort should be made to embrace what is means to be Canadian. Don't forget to get your perfectly safe and effective weekly vaccine shots.

They were told that if they made it to Canada then everything would be okay. They would have everything that they wanted and could build a prosperous life. This is a lie. If everyone poor in the world came to Canada then Canada would be no different than the countries they were leaving. I have been watching this country become more and more poor my entire life. When I was a child, a single blue collar wage could buy a house. Today, a University educated couple can barely afford to rent an apartment. When I was a child, people would get new cars every couple of years. Today, few people can even afford a car. I have watched as what could be bought relative to the effort required to do so has steadily declined. The numbers have gone up, yes, but the effort required to get anything is now several times greater than it was then.

I have been developing information systems for the last quarter century for some of the largest financial institutions in the world, in some cases with project budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars. I did my undergraduate studies in finance and my masters in applied information technology. My last project was over a year and a half ago. I'm on the verge of dissolving my corporation. If I can't make it here then what chance does someone that just got off a plane from Africa have? In Canada, there are lineups miles long for two or three minimum wage jobs in a warehouse. The Canadian economy is in a state of full-blown collapse. People are paying $500 a month just to share a mattress with a stranger in someone's basement. There are people who grew up here currently living in tent cities in downtown Toronto. Food banks are running empty. Homeless shelters have no vacancy. Canada is on the verge of a massive banking crisis, and I say that as someone that has worked in the financial services industry for almost three decades. Mortgages are being defaulted on. Credit cards are being defaulted on. The health care sector in collapsing with people sometimes sitting in the emergency room for almost a day before they are being seen my a doctor. Crime is skyrocketing. I'm afraid to go on the subway in Toronto at this point. There are random stabbings happening all the time. A woman was sitting on a bus and a random stranger throw gasoline on her and lit her on fire. Canada is not the land of milk and honey that you think it is. I'm in the process of fleeing back to Europe. Thankfully I held on to my EU citizenship.

Poverty and desperation led them to seek a better life in Canada. But this is not a solution because the developed countries cannot absorb millions of immigrants from Asia, Africa. Central and South America. It is therefore imperative that governments in developed countries stop being hypocritical and supporting corrupt dictators in underdeveloped countries, and the multinationals, who, driven by greed and profit, exploit the workers in these countries. The developed countries need to help the underdeveloped ones to develop agriculture, fishing, raise livestock animals, technology and industry in order to promote jobs and raise the standard of living for their citizens so they don't need to migrate. The problem of overpopulation must also be addressed, and birth control made mandatory to reduce the world population. The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"

Fake passports is a massive business in Africa and I know a lot of people who came here from Africa with fake papers claiming asylum because that's the only way they could get here. If you're claiming asylum it should be to the first country you land in, a lot of these people were living in Europe, didn't like it or are criminals so they moved on to the next country. There is no civil war in Nigeria and only criminals, especially pedophiles would leave a whole entire continent if they claim someone was trying to take their life

Pretty tough to build these days with high interest rates and high inflation. The Canadian federal government isn't helping the situation either by putting a carbon "tax on everything" since energy is needed to transport goods. Elect clowns, expect a circus.

We need out of the box thinking in Canada to solve the housing crisis. It aggravates the hell out me knowing how many houses sit empty, how many offices sit empty, how much land just in Toronto sits undeveloped because of speculation. Plan out and encourage home owners/renters to take in refugees as roommates. Every office building should devote an entire floor to be converted to housing. Every University and hotel offer a floor to housing. Every home that sat empty over the pandemic subject to retroactive taxes or confiscation if proved to be criminally connected to money laundering. Allow squatters rights and financial penalties for businesses who leave property empty for a year. Close tax loopholes for corporations and retroactively tax businesses who profiter from the pandemic and inflation. Provide debt and rent forgiveness to renters and small businesses who closed from the pandemic. We have so many options to exercise. We have to be aggressive in solving this problem.
