I'm a (uni) student who mainly uses his tab in class but fountain pen in notebooks outside of that. I have had the Al-star fountain pen as my main pen for a year now and I'm in love. Now my sweet Samsung Tab s6 lite 2020 is rapidly dying on me, and so is the Staedtler Noris digital I got for it 3,5 years ago. I'm getting the Samsung Tab s9 FE+ this weekend, and while I still really like the OG S-pen, it has proven to get a little uncomfortable when pulling longer digital writing sessions. Given that I have had the Staedtler Noris besides my S-pen all this time, I had been looking at the Jambo version. But your to - the - point review and honesty about it, combined with the fact that I so often already use an Al-star, has helped me make the final decision. Lamy it is for the upcoming years!

Based on this review and a couple of others I ordered the Lamy AL-Star EMR from Amazon, but to save $10 USD ordered the POM tip version. Shipping from Europe took only about a week, and it arrived today. A quick test on my rM2 showed that this alternate tip works great. It comes with two spare nibs and a small metal ring to use as a wrench when time to swap nibs. I really like having the cap and pocket clip and size. I can carry it like any other ballpoint or rollerball, and not worry about the magnet-held pencil form marker dropping off.

The button for the eraser is really great. Not having to turn the pen, or select eraser is something that has made working so much more smooth.

It might be possible to add a dummy ink cartridge made of brass in the back compartment of the handle, to weigh it down. That's what i did with my Lamy fountain pen anyway.

Great idea! I will try that.

Maybe just get a normal pelikan small cartridge, empty it and fill it with something heavier, or leave it full.@@BrandonKBoswell

A fellow lefty. I bought a LAMY rollerball in attempt to resolve hand pain while writing. I can't get it to feel comfortable in my hand. The hard plastic corners on the triangle body cut into my fingers, so I probably won't be buying the stylus. I bought the Staedtler stylus to use with my Kindle. It also has a triangle grip, but it feels soft in my hand. I love it! It's actually teaching me to write comfortably with a tripod grip, which I haven't been able to do with any other pen body.

I had a Lamy al Star EMR. It is a good pen but to my own taste I found it a bit too thick an slippery. It is great to have a side button but I found it a bit too recessed and too small, a bit hard too find it under my finger. And the tip is not tapered enough.

Hi is it safe to use Samsung S pen for S7/S8 or S pen pro on remarkable? Will it harm the Remarkable 2 screen bcz it feels the nibs are plastic n hard? The one ur using in ur other video is S Pen for Tab Lite.

Hi Brandon, I use the Lamy Al-Star EMR on a Boox Tab Ultra. After around two weeks of medium use, the nib of my Lamy Al-Star EMR is not working as well as it - the nib - did when it was new. Do you have any idea how long these nibs, by regular use, last? Which nibs do you use yourself?
@BrandonKBoswell2 жыл бұрын
Odd. Do you have the POM tip or the other one? I’ve had the POM tip since July and it’s one of the more durable I’ve found. I personally like the Wacom Felt tip nibs, they’re not the most durable, but I love the feel. I’ve gone through about two of those since August.

Would love to know your review on the Heart of Metal pen for the Supernote...I noticed you have one. :) Is it heavier than the Lamy? How does it compare to the original pen for Supernote?
@BrandonKBoswell2 жыл бұрын
I love the heart of metal pen. It is much heavier than the Lamy and has great balance. Assuming other devices did two finger erase as well as Supernote and the tip wouldn’t scratch those devices, I would use the Heart of Metal pen as my preferred pen on all eInk tablets. (I unfortunately have not used the standard Supernote pen)

@BrandonKBoswell Жыл бұрын
I’ve only used the POM tip. It’s okay, but I find it a bit hard and fast and prefer the Wacom Felt tip instead.
@Daniel-dj7fh Жыл бұрын
The AllStar is great, but.. The surface gets oily super fast. And the pocket clip (on mine at least), pulls out abit and I'm abit scared that it plopps out. But it writes amazin on the tab s6 lite, even with the original spen nib (the hard ball tip from lamy is even better)
@Daniel-dj7fh Жыл бұрын
But the original softer nib also glides really well on Brotech matte screenprotectors

Just make sure the screw on top of the cap is not loose. Otherwise take a coin and fix it. The Lamy Safari - the plastic version - has been the classic fountain pen most German kids get for their first day at school. It's been a German stable and has survived Generations. Don't worry, I own several and never lost a clip in 30 years. 😅
@Daniel-dj7fh10 ай бұрын
There is no screw, since it's the EMR it's got a weird diamond/star thing, same how the fountain pens have a cross and the rollerballs a minus.@@rainbowlable

Why are you constantly trying to start whispering? In any case, if they made it thin it would become just as vulnerable as the Samsung s pen. That thing breaks alot
@hezvandermeij4 ай бұрын
I don't know what you do with Your s-pens but mine have never broken, and I have been using the different ones (nole, tab, ultra ) for a bit over a decade. In any case, the real only reason why they didn't make it thinner is because right now it's a perfect match with the fountain and rollarball Al-Stars :)
@jasonMB9994 ай бұрын
@@hezvandermeij... No matter how many decades you've owned a pen. You only need to sit on/ crush it once, and it will break.
@hezvandermeij4 ай бұрын
@jasonMB999 I've heard that happen only once or twice ever.. but then again, if you handle it properly (thus put it away when you're done, in your case or on the table next to the Tab, in your phone) you won't ever sit on it. A normal pencil also breaks when sat on. Anyhow, have a good day.
