That’s why we got that flashback scene with Jane, not just to show that Jesse still loves her. As she says, “I’ve gone where the universe takes me my whole life. This movie is more of a character piece. It's essentially Jesse having the opposite character arc of the one he had in season 3. It's him slowly realizing that yes there is life after doing being bad. But, this is isn't a redemption story; it's a rebirth story. That's why the Mike, Walter, Jane flashbacks are key. Mike sets up the thesis of the film, the Walt flashback is him reflecting on his former mentor and through him coming to the opposite realization that he did in problem fog and the Jane flashback is him now finally self actualuzing everything he just went through. Sure he can't change what he's done and he has to carry it with him, but from this moment on it dosen't have to be an anchor around his neck that keeps him from making the future better.

A lot of the time with "reunion specials" or "TV movies" like these, they bring out all of the popular characters from the show for little cameos, but it often feels kind of forced. Like, hey remember THIS guy? Here he is! I didn't get that impression with this at all. Maybe because the style of the show already has a fair amount of jumping around chronologically, having those "deleted" scenes feels natural and organic, like they could have been part of the original show, and they help speak to the relationships from the past that have shaped Jesse's character into the present.

Loved your reaction to seeing Walt walk out into the hallway. It was perfect. And I may be in the minority here, but I hated Jane. She was toxic and was the worse thing for Jesse. At that moment in his life when he met her, he hadn't had much happiness, and she was the first person to show him love, and he ran with it. In turn, she passed on her heroid addiction to him, jeopardized his relationship with Walt out of greed, was willing to blackmail Walt, and nearly ruined the potential deal with Gus. When Walt let her die, it was both a turning point for his character, but also a death that was necessary as if Jesse stayed with Jane, they would probably both end up dead. I hated how he held on to her more than Andrea, who was a much better influence on him compared to Jane.

Greetings from Alaska. I wish they filmed that scene in Alaska but it wasn’t

In the same way, "Granite State" wasn't filmed in New Hampshire.

@Drum God The Alaska scenes in a parking lot were shot at the Sandia Crest Scenic Highway in Cedar Crest, very close from Albuquerque. The landscape from the aerial view (image pictured), is from the Togwotee Pass with the Teton Range (Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming).

@Drum God I think "Granite State" was filmed on a mountain in New Mexico.

I love how you enjoy every references and recurrent characters, when I saw El camino I did too.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the scene with Walter was when they decided to go get a motel and eat at Denny's like they discussed during that one cook.

Hey Brandon, I forgot to mention it during BB, but if you noticed Uncle Jack is the guy who played the cop in Jackie Brown (michael Keaton's partner). Jackie Brown of course starred Robert FOrster the dissapearer. So they are in the same set of episodes. BB heavily inspired by Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, among many others

Did you notice the vacuum cleaner guy is also Max Cherry, the bail bondsman, from Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown? My favorite movie ever, and the reason I started watching your reaction videos!

Your reaction when Walter White showed up was the same as mine. Priceless!

The beetle actually has a meaning. When Jessie let it crawl over his hand in one of the early BB episodes, Skinny P. just stepped on the beetle afterwards. This showed that Jessie is actually not a killer but that he has a good heart and respects even the smallest creature. The scene with the beetle in El Camino makes it clear that Jessie, despite all the terrible things that have happened to him, still has a good heart and that this piece of his soul is still intact.

LOTS of callbacks as well as some character development for Jesse in El Camino. *Character development* - Jesse's acceptance of his parents even after discovering they changed their safe combo from his birthday to his brother's birthday. *Call back* - Jesse driving away at the end because he was wearing a similar colored turtleneck that Walter wore in the pilot episode of BB.

This was great. It added nothing and took away nothing from the overall story but it was an entertaining vacation back into the Breaking Bad world with all the characters we loved. I am very happy they did it.

An amazing little line I didn't pick up on when I first watched this, in the diner scene where Jesse says "it's got Bromine" and walt corrects him to bromeline and says it's not even close to the same thing. Bromine is Br on the periodic table, of course Br being one half of the breaking bad logo, the other being Ba for Barium

In 20 years time, Brock starts his own drug empire and discovers Walts chemistry books and becomes "The Next Heisenberg" ... - Great reaction video, really enjoyed the intake. Love Breaking Bad one of my favs!

In the Walt scene, Walt suggests to Jesse that he should study Business and Marketing. In season 2 episode 4 of BB, Jesse talks to his mom about attending business school.

When El Camino was announced I was worried it might tarnish the absolute masterpiece that is Breaking Bad. But once again the brilliance of Vince Gilligan Cemented the Legacy of BB

The flashback was during the 4 Days Out episode when Walt told Skyler he was visiting his mother. That's when they made the huge batch before Walt got in contact with Gus.
