One day, I was sitting and the Most High led me to look up the word “name”. This led me to the truth of the Hebrew word shaym. I then realized that when the Messiah says, “if you ask anything in My Name, it will be given to you”, He was actually saying that whatever we ask in His authority, it will be given. This truth changed everything for me. The Most High says that he leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake, He’s actually saying, for His authority’s sake. It’s a beautiful thing! We have authority as sons and daughters and ambassadors of the Most High Yah! It’s also a beautiful thing when He leads you to His actual name. God and Lord are titles, they aren’t names, just food for thought.

Absolutely, so many see it or have assumed it’s some kind of “magic” word or ending to prayer. When actually it’s (as you say) about trusting in the authority the name denotes and more….the character/characteristics behind it.

@@tychocollapse what do you mean? The word was falsely translated to say name, but in Hebrew, it says Shaym, which means authority. They’re not the same.

@@richardwooley1711 it's the same meaning which is why it's common also in English to associate "in the name of" as "authority of". Either translation means the same concept and Hebrews weren't the 1st to colloquially associate in that manner. Also "name" may have came from Greek nome, a state or law of that state, as in the authority thereof.

I once had a pastor explain “in the name of Jesus” like in ancient times when the king would send an envoy out with his mark and that person was acting in the name of the king. He was on a mission from the king and spoke with his authority but that only applied to the specific tasks the king sent him on

The Latin word for righteous is, you understand, 'Justus' [Justice]. Jesus last name or 'surname', same as his father's and father's before that... all the way back to King David, was Justice. That is the origination of the phrase "In the Name of Justice" that has been lost to history... no thanks to that Catholic Church of yours. Jeremiah 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

I think of it as being like a proxy vote .. I cast it, but I have to vote the way the people I'm representing want or it would be very wrong. It is a bit scary to be given that responsibility for God!

About the rooster: The time given in scripture is about equivalent to 3am which is less than 2 hr before sun rise in Jerusalem for that time of year. This is a time that a rooster crow is not at all unusual. Also, roosters crow anytime they feel like it, even in the middle of the night. It's just less usual at, say midnight for example, but it does happen. So while you may have a point with this, it is by no means proven or certain either way. The point is that whatever he heard, Peter immediately recognised it as the fulfilment of Jesus prophetic words.

I believe the host said a rooster didn't "necessarily" crow. I appreciate his teaching on Hebrew idioms - pointing the reader to study and evaluate the text through the context of the original audience/language - and I believe his point is to bring attention to a dept of the text that goes beyond a mere reading of the words and, hence, a shallow filtering of the text through a 21st century lens. I didn't understand him to teach a conclusion that was different from the intent of the text, or, your statement that "Peter immediately recognized it as the fulfillment of Jesus prophetic words." Unfortunately, a lot of Christians haven't learned to study the Bible in ways that lead them to first understand and evaluate the text from the perspective of the original author/audience, before they apply it to themselves and their personal experiences. I think this video (and others like it) will show readers that the Bible is a fountain of living water that will not run dry and it is very much worth learning how to drink deeply from that fountain.

@@idnb70 I watched the video & understood the argument. I don't need you to repeat it's points. It's fine to offer a culturally relevant view. It's not fine to support that with untrue statements. In this case about the habits of roosters. I grew up a few houses away from a guy who kept chickens & provided us with eggs. Roosters do sometimes crow in the middle of the night, I have heard them & and internet search will confirm the fact that it's not all that unusual. So I'm simply calling the author out on providing incorrect information in an attempt to invalidate the usual view of this passage. Not that it matters either way to the passage, but because it's simply not true.

@@kenwebster5053 My neighbor keeps chickens and peacocks. The rooster, when he has one, crows at all times of the night. His house is close to a busy state highway with traffic and street lights. Mr Rooster gave the wake up call frequently at night so that I decided to keep the windows at night because I didn't like to be awakened multiple times a night before it was actually time wake up.😴 The peacocks make an even louder call whenever they are startled. They're similar to a barking dog.

I attended a Christian school as a child and we had to routinely read scripture, what I find interesting is that scripture works on both levels. Take the example of the eyes letting light in the body, what we see does affects us and we do need to watch what see, maybe more so in the world today, the lighter surface level is easier for a child to understand and be guided by while deeper meaner is there for adults to study and discover providing a lifetime of interest, discovery and enjoyment.

So for Gen 9 21-23 the word translated uncovered, the description of Noah in his tent, means “to be disgracefully exposed.” Ham gloats over his fathers shame and does nothing to preserve his fathers dignity. In contrast to Ham, Shem and Japheth walk in backward and cover Noah. They honor their father and win the approval and blessing of God. So no assault was done 😂 but rather using context (9:26-27) They received blessing for honoring their father.👍👍

There’s always great understand that comes when we go back to the ancient understanding off scripture, “Get the ancient Israelite in your head” as Mike Heiser always says, i’ve been studying the context and culture in its ancient format for years now and it has clarified so much.

I would read the book of 1 Enoch, testament of the 12 patriarchs, Book of Jubilees, Sibylline Oracles,the book of Jasher etc.If you haven’t studied the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible often referred to as the Old Testament) then a good study to start is Tom Bradford’s Torah (God’s instruction) class, this is in no way pointing to works over grace or anything like that, I say this because some people think that way as soon as they here that, but Satan has divided the body of Christ (Messiah) ,not only in separate denominations, but disconnecting us from the root, which is Messianic (Christ) Judaism, the ideals of the Christ/Messiah and the expectations of him were high at that time and many traditions were taught from ancient times, this is seen in the ancient Hebrew manuscripts, Dead Sea manuscripts , Greek manuscripts and later Aramac translations called Targums, they all show different traditions through there translations and usage, some of those traditions are preserved in the Talmud, Mishnah, though the Talmud and Mishnah were a response of the Pharisees to the New Testament,the pharisees being the group that survived the destruction of the second temple etc. I don’t want to confuse you, just remember the scripture we have is solid, always remember the Bible is the foundation, the unwavering foundation stone (well Jesus is the foundation stone, but you get the point). There’s very good scholar by the name of David C Mitchell and I absolutely love his books and he bring a lot of these Messiah traditions and ancient interpretations together, The Message of the Psalter, Messiah Ben Joseph, Incarnation of the Word. As a matter of fact these books I mentioned might help before venturing into the Inter-testament literature. I believe you will be blessed by these resources, I would suggest learning the ancient interpretations of the scripture, especially as concerns the Messianic interpretations,this will actually help you to prove Jesus is the Messiah (though Jesus Himself did that obviously)apart from the New Testament like The early disciples who had no New Testament, remember the reliability of the New Testament claims rest in the Old Testament, many Bible scholars say the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed, plus the LORD Himself says “He declares the end from the beginning”. Then the New Testament will be icing on the cake.

Another one that wasn't mentioned here is Daniel 11:37 "Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all." For years I've heard people say that this verse means that the antichrist would not be married, or perhaps be homosexual, or something of that nature, but then I discovered that "the desire of women," was a Hebrew idiom for the messiah, due to the idea that the women at the time all wanted their child to be the promised seed. So this verse is saying that he will have no regard for the God of his fathers, nor for the messiah... I found this to be very interesting. Excellent video. I really enjoy your work!

So Peter was given the Authority by Jesus to declare what is sinful and what isn’t. And my understanding of the “Keys of the Kingdom“ was a reference to Isaiah where the Keys to the Kingdom were given to the King’s steward and was meant to convey the King’s Authority and this was an office that was handed down from one generation to the next. It’s as if the early church took these commands of Jesus seriously and developed a Church with this authority. Awesome. If only we all knew more about the history and meaning of our Christianity! Seek the Truth!

"to abolish the law" is to make the law ineffective or to abandon it as it is not anymore useful for its purpose. To fulfill the law is to implement the law to make it accomplish its purpose.

Actually those phrases are related to the idea of yokes aka the “practical application of the law” in day to day life based on interpreted biblical principles. For instance, to take the phrase “avoid the appearance of evil” as the basis for an interpretive lens for all practical applications of scripture leads to a system that falls apart in practice - because the “appearance of evil” is too flippant and creates a yoke too heavy thereby abolishing the law. Think about it, any piece of clothing you wear is tied to someone who sinned so that could be interpreted as the “appearance of evil”. That legalism obviously isn’t the intent of that passage - leading to a heavy yoke. Jesus addresses this idea saying “his yoke is light” meaning his practical application starts and ends with love for God and man.

Thank you. It was very interesting to get a better picture of the reasoning behind the curse of Ham and Canaan. It was fascinating about the crow and Peter. That is where knowing culture helps. I love all I am learning. The Chosen, and these lessons you give , things I've learned such as Shabbat, triggered an extensive study of Israel, Messianic Jews and more. Thank you, Brandon, for continuing to give such great insights. I was also concerned about the severity of God's response to Ham in Genesis 9. As you were describing it, it reminded me of a comment made by John the Baptist to Jesus during an episode 5 in the Chosen. John was going to return to Jerusalem to call out Herod for marrying his niece. He said Herod had uncovered his brother's nakedness.

Big problem. No living person speaks biblical hebrew. You all are learning from Catholic lexicons that occasionally change definitions to suit their theology. Simple word studies can prove this. 500 years ago people still conversed in hebrew.

Good video. As for the curse of Canaan, it implies Ham committed maternal incest and Canaan (and his descendants) was the product of such unholy union. This was the reason Canaan was the cursed one.

One I came across with our Bible study (in which we used different translations) was "covered his feet" instead of "relieving himself" (Saul in the cave). "Covering his feet" was an idiom for going to the toilet. This helped us understand when Ruth "uncovered" Boaz's feet. We thought it meant he had gotten drunk, and Ruth got him dressed again. It explains his reaction that she had given him honor (and helped him keep his).

I learned from a Rabbi many years ago that one cannot really understand Scripture without the Hebrew mindset. I learned about the "cock crows" from an Israeli teacher. I learned the rest from study and Messianic Rabbi's teaching.

I grew up in a religious tradition that we believed every word in our KJV (only acceptable Bible version to God) was directly from God’s mouth. And we would divide from other believers who didn’t agree with our “accurate “ interpretation. Sometimes fellowship hanging on a verb tense. My first awakening is how did the first century church worship correctly without a New Testament Bible. Acts 8, Phillip and the eunuch. If they were lucky they may have an apostle’s letter. And then when the Bible was collected (300 AD) and eventually mass produced over a thousand years later. Not to mention the idioms and reading the New Testament not within the context of the Old Testament. And more recent discovery of older manuscripts reveal translation errors. With the help of you and others, I now realize God’s message is about Jesus and love. Not striving for doctrinal purity and perfect worship service as we interpreted Paul. Thank you Brandon.

Thanks, Brandon. I had always understood the sin of Ham to be severe disrespect of his father. I had pictured him with a mocking attitude saying to his brothers, "Hey guys, check it out! The old man is drunk as a skunk and naked as a jaybird!" But the brothers did the opposite by discretely covering their father. The ten commandments had not been given yet, but Ham was obviously not honoring his father and was violating the heart of God's character. This has been enough for me to understand the curse of Canaan, but if what you say is true, that paints even a more horrifying picture.

Considering the severity of the curse on Canaan, I had always thought that since Noah was lying there drunk, possibly passed out, and naked, that Ham had homosexual lust after his father, and maybe even attempted sex with him while he was passed out drunk. After hearing the explanation of the idiom, that seems about right to me. But then Canaan went and told his brothers, that's interesting. Maybe he thought they might be interested in taking advantage of their father also? I don't know, but it's interesting.

Except for context. In the biblical account, Noah “lying uncovered” is quite literal, and likewise his sons “covering his nakedness”. Why then would Ham “seeing his nakedness” be something else?

In the section where Noah and company are disembarking the ark, I have heard that the Hebrew grammar states emphatically "Ham, HE is the father of Canaan," making sure that the reader knows that Noah was not the father.

Thank you for clarifying what "in Jesus' name" means. I was taught as a child that every prayer had to end with, "in Jesus' name, amen," or else it wouldn't be valid; merely saying "amen" wasn't enough. Like you said, it's as if the name of Jesus is some kind of magic word. I have a family member who is afraid that "in Jesus' name" isn't enough either. He is so afraid, that he ends every prayer with, "in and through the name of Christ, Your Son and our Savior, amen." He's the only person I know who prays like this. Anybody else know someone who does something like this?

I think he got 1 context correct, but he got another one wrong. If you are speaking with Authority as a Priest, you speak in Jesus name as his representative WITH authority. That is where one would make promises or blessing with the authority of God. When you pray "in Jesus name" then you are appealing to God and claiming Jesus Christ as your mediator and intercessor with God. It is an acknowledgement that you NEED a Savior who is clean and pure, therefore NOT estranged from God, to stand between you. Because as a Human being with a fallen nature, who is subject to sin, you are technically, and legally not worthy to interact with God. "No unclean thing can enter into the Kingdom of God" Jesus is Clean so he can be with God. and he Took upon him Your sins and My sin so that he can lift us up.

@@Paul-hl8yg But not Christianity. Hence why many Christians are not religious but followers of Christ. Living in fear is as God said in Psalms the beginning of Wisdom. But to become wise one must understand God's will. One cannot understand God's will if they are in fear. One can only be wise once he loves God. It's through love that Wisdom is made complete. Continuous fear simply becomes foolishness according to God. It means not growing up as a baby Christian. Just as you fear punishment from your parent initially but you can only understand your parent once you love them by growing up. God doesn't punish people on Earth but He disciplines us.

So this explains why it's such a big deal that Peter is the one who has the vision about clean/unclean foods before he baptizes Cornelius, why Acts 15 gives him such a prominent role in what comes out of the first council regarding "Judaizing" and also nails why Paul rebuked Peter for being wishy-washy with the Judaizers (I forgot which epistle this is.) The explanation of Ham's actions needs to take into account the whole of the story. Here it is: "Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside. But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father’s nakedness". If Ham sexually abused HIS MOTHER, what is this pantomime with Shem and Japheth walking backwards with a garment and covering Noah all about? If Ham sexually abused Noah himself, were Ham's brothers' actions done so that THEY would not do the same - that "they would not see their father’s nakedness"? When sexual activity is involved, the Hebrew is translated "uncover (גֶּלֶה‎) the nakedness", not "see (רָאָה‎) the nakedness".

This is so helpful! I think when we finish our prayer with, "In Jesus' name," we're acknowledging that authority that he has. It's like saying, "In the name of the law," as you said. They're going to get arrested no matter what; you don't _need_ to say it for them to go to jail. But it acknowledges the law as the reason you're arresting them. I think it's exactly the same with Jesus' name. It acknowledges Jesus Christ and the power of God the Father to answer that prayer. Sure, you don't _need_ to, but it's kind of like calling someone as "sir" or "ma'am." You respect them, and that's how you show it. Shouldn't it be the same for our perfect, worthy, feared God? Just sharing my thoughts. Have a great day.🙂

I was directed to this address by a friend, this weekend we looked at the 3 examples in the introduction. It was easily shown from the context of each and word searches that the speaker was in error. Eg, Noah uncovered himself, Ham didn't do it. The speaker conveniently omitted the verse showing that his brothers "covered" his nakedness. I'll not give a full study here , simply noting that our whole group clearly saw the error in his presentation. Friends, you can trust a genuine bible translation more than this guy. (By a long, long, way) His language and confidence isn't matched by his facts. May the word of the Living God be your anchor brethren.🙏😃

You are right that the proper vision is how we are to live. The world we see holds no truth. "Judge not by the flesh or appearance but judge by righteous judgment." This world is not of God's creation but by the prodigal son who left God. By asking God to replace physical sight with spiritual sight, we see truly and are reborn as spirit not as flesh.

The Aramaic word 'gaver' means rooster, but it also means the 'temple crier' who alerted the early risers to come into the temple for the morning devotionals, and this was the 4th watch (3a.m. - 6a.m.). Canaan was Noah's grandson by his wife. So, since he was a child of incest, he and all of his descendants were cursed. Another idiom of note is the "hearing in the ear" one. It's always translated as just "hearing," such as, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by The Word of ELohim." But translators left off "...in the ear" because they figured, 'well, how else do you hear?' But it's an idiom that means "to obey what you hear." This is also the definition of 'faith' because it's a verb: a state of being (belief), and an action (adherence to your belief); and faith without works is dead.

@AuthorJaymiMozeak good question, but although the 'uncovering his father's nakedness' phrase is an idiom, the 'covering their father's nakedness' phrase is more literal. The point was Shem and Japheth not seeing Noah's wife naked and humbled - because only a husband is allowed to see a wife naked. Ham dishonored his father. This is how Reuben lost his firstborn birthright, by sleeping with Bilhah, whom Jacob didn't sleep with after that. I *think* David's son Absalom slept with one of his wives also.

Peter was not given the authority or ability to determine what is prohibited or permitted in future generations! Does that mean that Peter was given the ability and authority to change Torah? Of course not. Yeshua and all of His disciples and true followers were Torah observant and that did not change throughout the book of Acts, contrary to christian belief. Every blessing. David (UK)

Taking his name in vain isn't profanity ...it's pretending to believe in him when you do not by asking him in prayer for something you do not intend to count on. You see, he really wants us to trust him and rely on him completely. When we ask of him without faith we take his name in vain! That is why "they ask and they have not because they ask amiss!" You've really got to take him seriously to take him at his word. His word is not in vain!

It's something we should study. The Bible says there are wolves in sheeps clothing and the Bible says many times: To be aware of deception and do not be deceived. Its important to study and be sure that we are understanding the Bible. Well enough to be able to do as the Bible says "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world ." 1 John 4:1 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:14

@@cm601_plays Well it's not necessarily meant that you should study the Bible because this particular scripture was written 300 years before there ever was a Christian Bible and the Jewish Bible is not about Christ or if it had been then the Jews would have recognized him when he came into the world. They didn't even know or care who he was because he wasn't who they wanted him to be. So, when the Apostle says study what are we to study? What did all those other believers have to study in the 300 years before the Apostles' letters were collated and canonized? They were not welcome in the synagogues because the Jews did not believe in Christ. So, they couldn't just go in like it was a public library you know. Not all the letters in circulation were divinely inspired. Many of them were forgeries. Others were just poorly translated and copied. How was the common man to study as Timothy instructs? Do you suppose that all the Apostles' letters had already been written? Or perhaps more realistically, all their letters were written over the span of their entire lifetimes?! Then too, there is the matter that they were not perfect in their understanding of God's will and what He is doing. Yes! They were God's appointed and duly authorized representatives here on earth! But they were growing in the knowledge of Christ and didn't always have the clarity of understanding that they grew into in their maturity. A good example of this is in the Acts of Paul and Thecla... one such letter that they would've had access to as it was very popular at the time! The whole doctrine of celibacy that paul believed in at the time was not as spiritual as he thought it was. He feared as stated in Ephesians that a man could not serve God and have a wife and kids. His belief was that if a man had a wife and family his thoughts would be taken away from the Lord and they would become too much of a distraction. To the carnal mind that may indeed seem like the better way!! But later in his personal development, Paul began to see things much more clearly. He began to understand that Christ is in the people in our lives! That the best way to serve him is by serving them in his name. He began to understand what Christ meant when he said "If you have done it to the least of these you have done it to me." Christ is in them!! You don't need to go anywhere to find opportunities to serve the Lord but those opportunities will find you... God will manifest them in your everyday life. To serve him is to serve them! As He says to do it as unto the Lord. Whatsoever you do, do it not as unto men but as unto the Lord. And again the Lord says, "If you love not your neighbor whom you can see, how then can you say you love the Lord whom you do not see? " But if you love them then you demonstrate that you love God by loving who He loves also. By taking care of the ones he loves in his name and in honor of him. All of this that I've just said is the kind of Revelation Christ revealed to Paul in later years after the Acts of Paul and Thecla, many, many years down the road. Now, his earlier celibacy doctrine is somehow dim by comparison because the path of the just shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day... They didn't know then what they would know later on. But if you take the body of all of Paul's written works together as a single message you would be confused. Because his earlier messages were not in agreement with his latest revelations from God. The Apostles were NOT perfect but they were apostles! Peter also was not perfect in his earlier understanding of things either, as it is documented in the scriptures. He had been teaching that the Gentiles had to become Jews first and be circumcised before they could ever be born again. To Paul whose ministry was actually to the Gentiles, this was heresy! He knew that the circumcision that was required is the circumcision made without human hands in the cutting away and removal of the hardened outer layer of the human heart to make it more sensitive to the inward movements of the spirit of Christ. Let's face it. One of them was right and the other was wrong! In either case, they couldn't both be right and yet they were both Christ's voice in this world. Imagine if Peter's error had made it into the Bible as doctrine where would we be now? Since everything in there is taken for granted as the Word of God. And not everything in there is... It's what we get when Atheists translate the scriptures.

BEFORE the foundations of the world. It was so that the Covenant that God made with Abraham could be fulfilled. Namely, the Covenant of Melchezedek aka The King of Righteousness AND Peace! The righteousness of the Law is not the Righteousness of God because it is without Peace! To this very day the "Holyland is not holy and there is no Peace in Jerusalem the city of Peace! Who then is the king of Jerusalem when we may clearly see that it is not The King of Righteousness and Peace! Jesus aka Yeshua or Joshua is Melchezedek. So then who is reigning in His stead over Jerusalem? What exactly is SIN? Is it not already the man of Sin sitting in the temple of God that they are? None of their righteousness is like His Righteousness! None of their Peace is like His Peace! And this was their Promised Land?! Really?? The so-called word of God that is the Torah is not God's word. If they had known God's word they would have known Christ when he came into the world. He is and has always been and forever shall be The only word of God.They did not know him because they were NEVER taught who to expect. They were expecting a super hero to destroy their enemies! And even today their corruption has spread to the ends of the earth in that many so-called believers in Christ are Expecting Him to make them rich like billionares! They do not know him... they know about him. Or at least they think they do. But they don't really know him like you'd know your own dad or someone very close to you. But that is the kind of closeness that we must have with him if we are ever to be like him. If our righteousness is ever to be his Righteousness and if our peace it ever to be his Peace. God has done away with the false Covenant. And it was too! But concerning the prophets there are many more of them than are ever in any Bible. Because he has given the gift of prophecy to many and they understand that a prophecy is not true because they said so; but they said so because it is true. They have visions and dreams just like Apostle John on the isle of Patmos. Yet here we are thinking of men above their measure. That's what everyone does! Paul the apostle couldn't have stressed it enough that he was just a man! John thought so little of his mortal self that he spoke of himself in the 3rd person objectively not subjectively. They counted their lives ruin. To empty out themselves and be filled with the fullness of Christ. When you are filled with the FULNESS of Christ you can plainly see what is couched in the beginning of the world. You can see the thoughts of God! You know fullwell what is and is not of The Lord. You know it because He is true to His word and promises! And He promised that that is exactly the way it would be. When we LET the mind of Chist becomes our mind. When we once and for all surrender to him completely and irrevocably. When we always quite naturally defer to his good judgement in everything we do and say. Then and only then are we actually IN HIS NAME ...living and having our entire being in HIM. It's the only way we can speak HIS word in His name. Because that is what it means: "For me to live is Christ!" ...And I know you got the chills up and down your spine on that. Because the spirit of Christ surely knows what he has authored and what he has not authored. There are many things in the scriptures that God did not say! Many are the forgeries and mistranslations...It's what happens when you try to figure out God's word in your carnal mind. The mind of the flesh cannot know God neither can it ever please God. That mind is the Cain in you killing the Abel in you. The Mind of Christ in me assures you that the Adversary is also the imposter. And that every single one of us has at some point in our lives been ensnared by his deceptions. Moses was one such man he did not know that God is a light in whom there is no darkness at all and Satan had him fooled to think that it was the "hinder parts" of GOD that he saw! What hinder parts does pure light have? The Law was given to him by the hand of an Angel [Lucifer] and they were worshipping the Angels. None of them NOT EVEN MOSES ever saw God. Or if he had seen him he would've been like him for he would've seen him as he is. What Moses saw was an Angel who had transformed himself into a messender of light giving makind anything but hope. To be fair it was God who gave them manna from heaven. But it was Satan who turned the manna into worms when they gathered too much. Now, you could say that it served them right for being so greedy but the manna that Christ gives is so fulfilling and so holy that you can never get too much. Everything that God did for them Satan swooped down on to steal all the glory and start laying down the law. Everything God did for them Satan turned to worms so-to-speak. Imagine how evil a man can be as a father in this world ...how that men without knowledge of God could pour gasoline on their own child and set them ablaze!! And they say they did it because "God" told them to. What would you say to that? What that he is so evil to do that to a helpless child? And yet despite the reasge you must feel that is exactly what his IMAGE of God told him to do by way of example. Or do you honestly beleive that God uses demon tactics to get his way with us? Actually it means a worthless man. There is no one quite so worthless as someone standing against a wall urinating. A soldier in such a position can't even do the easiest job in the armed forces, guard duty. He can't see who is coming to attack, so he is worthless, in every way besides not being able to fight.

A male youth, an adult would hide themselves but children don't have as much shame, but we're taught to face away and wasnt an uncommon sight to see a male child "pissing against a wall" It was a way of saying young as much as male if not more in some contexts.

One of the most frustrating things is pastors who don’t make an effort to teach people these things. I remember an older pastor whose church I attended and he would often share the original meanings of words/expressions. Unfortunately he no longer pastors and I’m not sure how much Greek or Hebrew my new pastor even knows. I really enjoy listening to Rabbi Jason Sobel because he tells the meaning of words found in the bible. Very interesting and quite different from what we are taught.

Fascinating! Although I had heard that interpretation of Noah's nakedness before. It also occurs in Leviticus 20:17. But that interpretation sits oddly with the next passage *Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.* How do you explain that passage? One explanation is that it was a later addition by someone who didn't know the idiom, but I wondered if there are other explanations?

The ones who copied that over and over were scribes, there's no way that they wouldn't have known the idiom, nor would they have been so disrespectful to scripture as to add something to something that was not only considered holy and from God, but also history.

Noah's grandson Canaan was birthed by his wife. Even though this was during the time when first cousins, or even brothers and sisters could marry, sons to mothers and aunts, or daughters to fathers and uncles was never permitted. Because Canaan was therefore a child of incest, he and all of his descendants were cursed. Shem and Japheth covered their mother, who was probably passed out drunk as well. Ham had issues!

@@auh2o148 No he wasn't. Noah's wife was more than likely past the point where she could bare children, no children were born to her and Noah after the flood. Also if Canaan was the product of incest between Noah's wife and Ham, he wouldn't have survived infancy.

Wow that was so helpful! Thank you Brandon! The one that stood out to me most was about the Kingdom of God/Heaven. I've always heard it explained that either they were two different things, or that they were the same thing (so I was confused which one to believe). But understanding that Heaven was used in place of God makes so much sense! Thank you for these videos, they help me see a clearer picture of Jesus!
