GX80/GX85 is sharp if you choose correct lenses like Zuiko 45mm f1.8, Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4...and if you keep ISO low.

I love the GX85, bought my 1st one new 4 years ago and the 2nd one used that needed repair 2 years later. Now I have 2 of them and they are both awesome. Great complement to my G95, G7, and my 2 @ EM10mii. I have other formats but these get used the most.

It's a great little camera! I'm having fun using it and watching videos of other people having fun using it. It's small and there is a variety of good lenses for it. And definitely less bulkier than my GH5 or GH5s, easier to carry around. And when you get them previously owned, you save quite a bit of money! Love it! Thanks for your video!

Dude, your images are soft because you bought the softest MFT lens you could find, that 17mm f2.8. The camera produces tack sharp images with sharp lenses, like any of the Panasonics Leica lenses or even the dinky collapsible 12-32mm kit lens.

Glass definitely plays a big role in what your image will come out like, I picked up what I did for form factor, budget and added character to what this camera already produces.

@@BrandonSoum I suggest the 20mm f1.7. it's just as small and cheap and has amazing image quality, also in low light. Only downside is the slow and somewhat loud AF motor.

I have a GX 85 and it my street and B cam to the G9. I agree the DFD can be trying for video. I have no problems with the contrast only autofocus during photography. It may be slower than current cameras but is more than adequate for street photography. My main complaint is there is no audio in connection. As you have demonstrated, the 4K video is very good. I used the 15, 20, 25mm lenses as they are all small and light. I am also. Fuji user. Both systems work for me. The XT4 is certainly larger and heavier than the GX85. It doesn’t bring more attention to me than the GX85. Going on a photo walk in downtown Seattle in the morning and taking the XT4. The XS10 is the comparable Fuji camera to the GX85. It is a little larger, a little heavier, but twice the price of the GX85. Also true of the glass. The GX85 is getting a little long in the tooth. That is why you can purchase it in the $2-300 range. It is a good choice for street photography. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Great video. I down sized from a Nikon D200 to the GX85 and I do not miss the extra bulk. The GX85 is small enough I can get into my windbreaker jacket with the 15mm 1.7 lens. I set up one of the custom modes to shoot in black and white and love it. This camera is a keeper.

If you did the manual white lock with a camera color calibration device to reset the on-site white value to zero, you would shoot the top photo image than your believe or eve saw with your GX85.

I find a bargain and bought it. It's ok camera. It's not for night use. Sensor can't handle it. But the thing that no one talks about is that the jpeg sucks especially at low light shots. Even if you reduce the NR to -5. Bad compression algorithm probably. I assume the kit lens 12-32mm doesn't help at all. Looking for a 14mm F2.5.
@BrandonSoum
@BrandonSoum 6 күн бұрын
I can agree with this, it doesn't do very well at night- only primes that are likely purely manual with fast aperture can take in more light and lower the ISO. Though your focus plane will differ but this is as much that can be done to combat this challenge of the camera. I didn't think about the algorithm but that is a likely thing as well.

recommend it for someone who wants to shoot short films?
@BrandonSoum
@BrandonSoum 2 жыл бұрын
It would depend if you’d be shooting audio separately, solely using manual focus, etc. This camera doesn’t have a mic. jack so audio will have to be recorded separately. But short films can definitely be shot on this. I’d take a look at other Lumix cameras first as those spec/features would fare way better; G85, G9, GH5… m43 bodies

Like the man said, it doesnt have audio in. However, someone like me who only cares about visuals and syncs music to it later, it would be just fine. I still keep it even though I have an S5 and a G9ii.

G85 is slightly bigger, more on classic Dslr style body. Specs inside are pretty similar but you’d be paying for weather sealing, flip screen, but no flash- separate purchase. Those are the main differences with the g85.

The video this camera produces is incredible for the price. The auto focus is the achilles heel, but having said that I find it in good lighting, it has close to no issue at all. It is only in low light it is best to go manual.

True, I have to be very conscious on leaving the camera on when I have it out, so I do turn it off when I can. As for any telephotos. I haven't dipped into that market quite yet for the M43 system, but will want to one of these days! Thanks for watching, Bill!

I got the GX80 a few months ago and was a bit miffed that it only did PAL framerates. Then I found out that it supports NTSC framerates via boot option as well. The GX85 apparently can't do that vice versa. Just FYI for GX80 owners.

Bro, I'm undecided between the canon m200 and gx85 , I want it mainly for video clips and create content for social networks, which one do you recommend? Greetings from Cuba 🇨🇺
@BrandonSoum
@BrandonSoum Жыл бұрын
Hmmm… I trust Canon’s AF above Lumix, though it is an older system. Both are compact. If you want more lens selection, the Gx85 has far more that will fit the mount vs Canon’s M Mount. So it has to be which to prioritize. You could always manual focus, so imo… Gx85

I really want to be taking pictures like this badly 😅 and i got prime lense f1.7 25mm as well. Is this lense good to start with practicing sir? Like landscape aswell? I know its good for portrait, but what you think of landscapes? Should i use this or the kit lense? :) thanks sir. Much appreciated:)
@BrandonSoum
@BrandonSoum 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That prime is a great one but could be tighter for landscape if you're in a city or urban scenario but you can still take shots of land with that 25mm depending on where you stand but I recommend going wider for landscape, that way you can capture any and all surrounding area. The kit lens will do if used properly!

Got this camera with the two kit lenses in 2019 at Best Buy's Black Friday sale. It was to be my back up camera for my Sony A7II. It is a superb little camera for travel and most video needs to be honest. Small form factor lenses makes this so easy to bring around on shoots. Fast forward to 2023, It is now the only camera I own. Looking to see what Panasonic will do for this range of cameras in the future.

@BrandonSoum
@BrandonSoum 2 жыл бұрын
Nice! When shooting at night, keep your aperture as wide as it can go (on your lens, 2.8) and any lens that has a lower number will be faster and will allow more light in but will also cost more. As for shutter, if your scenes are more still and not so rapid in movement. You could get away with shooting at a 1/60th or faster if need be. Thanks for watching!

If you think this is not an excellent video camera then your must be defective. I use this camera in both 4k and 1080 exclusively throughout Singapore, Malasia and the Philippines in all conditions even enveloping in a plastic ziplock bag with the ehd of the lens cut out durring heavy rain and all footage was more than usable. The only complaint I have is how easy it is to accidentally shut it off while trying to change the mode dial. This mighty beast is an excellent vlog camera if you keep yourswlf in the rerlection off the lens cover since the rear screen does not allow selfie view.
