I like when the cam manufacturers give the lifter rise at tdc. Super easy to dial in the cam.

Gerald, don’t know if you have ever tried doing this or not but instead of dabbing a little assembly lube/grease from the tube on threads etc some years ago I got in the habit of using a small paint brush when I had tube assembly lube have a blowout. Since then I have been squeezing the tubes of lube into a “pot” I made out of an old cartridge filter housing. Additionally I learned a long time ago it far better to scoop a couple three tablespoons of anti-seize of its factory container and put it in another container and then dilute it with a some mineral oil or ATF which in turn makes it much easier to paint onto the shafts and threads of bolts. The reason I take a couple three tablespoons at a time from the factory container is to keep the anti-seize in that container fresh and not contaminated with who knows what. Have a great day and a better tomorrow

I keep a little petroleum jelly pot with just a small amount of it in there, I use it too lube everything. But I cut the corner out to keep dirt out and the paint brush can poke out. Nice tip on the anti size. I hate how it globs on stuff, I tend to lean towards the jelly to lube up stuff, I’ve seen the anti size eventually rust and cake up like rust does when it dries out. So I figured grease prevents rust so that’s why I lean that way.

Happy New Year to Mr. Brand ! from Japan. Always nice to watch your gentle, organised, attention to detail work. It seems you didn't use any electric tool to tighten the bolts on Motor, is there any reason for that ? 🤔 PS: Happy to know you are pleased with Japanese bearing 😊

Gerald, how do you chose which rod goes on which crank throw? I’ve always wondered if there was a proper way to do that. Thanks.

Would prying on the main caps have an effect upon your endplay measurement? They weren’t torqued to specifications right?

Mr. Brand, have you ever had a bristle come off your brush that you lube the bearings up with during assembly or caught one after assembly? I just happened to remember to ask, because a bristle came off on a engine I was painting today,On the intake surface of a set a big port oval BBC. Just kinda was wondering.
@BrandRacingEngines4 күн бұрын
The brush is used for the cam grease only, and no I have not had a bristle come off. Thanks for asking

Proform makes that rod cap separator tool you are using. Also, Would you have cam bearing set screws in a Cast Iron LS block or is this just an Aluminum block thing?

I put them in all LS blocks

With those set clearances and being an aluminum block. What oil weight are you recommending to run? They do seem rather large then what im use to myself.
